NEW – Forbes Hall: Power’s Out Team

In TICA’s work to have Forbes Hall available to the Community during power outages and emergencies, a team of 7 people are now coordinated as the Power’s Out Team. They spring into action if the power’s off on Thetis.

Forbes Hall Community Centre has the capacity to run “Power’s On” for 2-weeks off-grid with heat, lights, water, WiFi, and kitchen facilities.  With this ability, all that was needed was a co-ordinated team to get the hall open and welcome to the community.

Here are the basic guidelines that the Power’s Out Team have agreed to:

1.     The hall will be opened by 9 am if the power is off in the morning.

2.     If the power goes out between 9 AM and 5 PM, the hall will be open in an hour.

3.     Forbes Hall will be closed when the power is back on, or at 7 PM at the latest, even if the power is still off.

4.     They are volunteering to provide access to Forbes Hall, heat and lights on, with hot beverages and snacks as available.

5.     If the power outage extends for longer than 8 hrs, Food Services may activate Food Preparation for these events.

Please note that there may be occasions where only part of Thetis is affected by a power outage.  Dependent on the volunteers’ locales, they may be unaware of a localized outage.

Also note that these parameters may change in Emergency situations.
