Jollity Weekly Order Reminders

It's bagel and True Grain Bakery pick up this week. Please submit your orders for local dairy and baking by Monday evening.

It sounds like we can get more 1 lb bags of local frozen organic strawberries and blueberries (or 10 lb boxes). We've got them available at the farm shop in Chemainus but could also stock them on Thetis if you are interested?

It's still slim pickings on the farm in terms of fresh veggies. Our friends at Saanich Organics have a few goodies like carrots, rutabaga, celeriac etc. so we are hoping to add to the fresh list this week or next.

We'll be getting fresh kegs of Kombucha this week too.

With thanks,

Jollity Farmers

Bingo February 23: note the new times

Hello everyone, Bingo this month is scheduled for February 23rd.

We are starting and ending at new times and expanding the agenda to include a light meal. This is to make it possible for interested Penelakut bingo players to join in the fun.

New Start Time:5:00pm (4:40pm dep. Penelakut, arr. Thetis at 5:00pm)

5:00-5:30pm - light meal (Hot Dogs and Salad by Donation)

5:30-7:30pm – Bingo

7:30pm leave for ferry (7:50pm dep. Thetis, arr. at Penelakut at 8:10pm)

For those new to our bingo. We will play 10 games: 9 partial boards and a final blackout game. Cards are 25 cents each, with the pot being 100% of the amount collected.

Snacks and beverages are available by donation.

Ask anyone who has come to the bingos, it is fun. An all-ages event that provides an opportunity to meet other islanders.

Hope to see you there!

Updating the Thetis Island Phone Book

We really, really, do need an updated phone book. PLEASE HELP ME by letting me know:

a) if everything in the last book is still the same

b) if it isn't, what needs changing

c) if you're not in the 2022 book, and would allow us to include you in the new one, please get in touch with me at veronicashelford@gmail.com, and we'll sort out what information is acceptable and appropriate for you.

If you don't get back to me, I will have to call or email you (assuming I know who you are), and this is a huge job. It's made so much easier by those who respond - thank you!

New people to the island should please note that the Fire Department, First Responders and other emergency services rely on the book to speed up their ability to respond to emergencies. If for any reason you would rather not be in the book, please consider allowing us to know who you are and how to reach you, as a back-up in the island database.

Thanks again,

Veronica at veronicashelford@gmail.com  for the TIRRA Communications Committee

Orchard Ladder Trade?

I have a 12-foot orchard ladder that is way too big for me. Would anyone be interested in trading it for an 8-foot one?

Thank you,

Accommodation Wanted

My partner and I are seeking accommodation on Thetis Island for this summer. Ideally, we are looking for a monthly price for a period of 4-6 weeks. We prefer to be located near the public dock, or along the side facing Chemainus. We are middle-aged professionals and very responsible.

TELUS PureFibre Construction Update

Our team at TELUS appreciates the continued interest and enthusiasm for PureFibre in your community. Our crews are continuing their construction of the network in the community, and we will soon be moving to the final stages of the build in which we connect drops from our PureFibre network to homes and businessesOur team at TELUS appreciates your continued patience at this time.

With respect to future opportunities to engage our team, we would like to host another community event where the community will have an opportunity to receive more information from our friendly service professionals closer to the date when the network is operational. We will share details about that event as soon as we can.

If you have not already requested a PureFibre drop to your residence or business, we encourage you to do so by visiting telus.com/fibreiscoming.

Duncan Rotary Heart of Gold Auction

Duncan Rotary is having its annual online Heart of Gold auction. Take a look at all the wonderful opportunities and be supportive if you can. Duncan Rotary not only supports our local community in many ways, but also supports School Orchards Africa by installing water cisterns at the schools we've planted.

 Mosquitoes?

Is there a mosquito committee or a plan to clean the drainage channel from that pond to allow the water to move out, the way it used to be?

Does anybody know? The mosquito season is approaching....
