Restore Rail (Vancouver Island) is petitioning the Federal Government to restore and preserve the Vancouver Island rail corridor.  We encourage all who’d like to see that preservation and restoration to sign the following petition.  

There is a federal government petition that is open until January 11^thand is found at, https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-4576.

Save the Date: Robbie Burns Day Celebration January 27, 2024

Robert ‘Rabbie’ Burns sits proudly atop the pantheon of Scottish poets. From ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to his ‘Address to a Haggis’, Burns’ work is intrinsically linked with Scottish culture.

His journey from humble rural beginnings to international renown tells the story of a man inspired by nature, class culture and love.

On the evening of January 27th we will be celebrating the life of Robbie Burns with a fine traditional Scottish dinner at Forbes Hall. Entertainment will include customary speeches, bagpipes, highland dancing, and poetry!

Please circle this date on your calendar and watch for ticket sales information at the beginning of the new year.

Harvest House

I think we should be known as the Little Island with Big Hearts.

This Christmas season Islanders have donated over 400 lbs of food and clothing as well $1100 in cash and cheques. In addition to that there were a couple of anonymous donations plus several donated on line or directly to Harvest House.

Thanks again. Don’t ever grow weary of doing good.

Early Mornings at the Jolly Little Farm Shop

It has come to our attention that many people don't know our farm shop & cafe in Chemainus opens at 7am Mon-Sat (8am on Sunday). That's right...you can drive right off the first ferry for a hot coffee or tea and something to eat.

This week we are testing out our farm-to-plate Breakfast sandwiches (to-go or to-stay) with housemade potato buns, Thetis Island Co-op eggs and bacon (or ham) with a slathering of our green sauce.

We've also added savoury scones and quiche to the growing menu of goodies.
