4am Boat Visitors

Not sure if it was the same people but a quieter boat loaded with really a lot of lights was sitting in the cut near Telegraph Marina at 4am. When I turned on our deck lights they took off towards the pub. Check your belongings near the water.

Friends of Furries Update

A huge thank you to those who responded to yesterday's notice about the need for more funding for Friends of Furries. The response has been rapid and generous.

For those who would like to contribute via etransfer, the address to send to is friendsoffurries@gmail.com. It is set for auto-deposit. I will set up a page attached to thetisisland.net, to keep contact information available, and where we will post periodic financial reports. Cheryl Senetza has agreed to continue to manage the accounts, and I will join the existing set-up as a back-up on the accounts, and to keep up the communications. If you prefer to send a cheque, make it out to Friends of Furries, and post c/o Cheryl Senetza at Box 174.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can write to friendsoffurries@gmail.com or to veronicashelford@gmail.com.

Many thanks again!
Veronica Shelford

Friends of Furries Update

For those new to the island, or those who may have lost sight of it, the "Friends of Furries" organization is still active on Thetis. First started in 2003 by Lon Wood, Rhonda Andrews and Ken Hunter, to deal with unleashed dogs running in packs, they have stepped in when asked, saving the lives and health of countless animals, feral and domestic, both on Thetis and Penelakut.

There continues to be a need for this help. Many others have served the FoF cause over the years, but have gradually retired, and it is now largely maintained by Rhonda Andrews and Phil Hunter, with frequent aid from Dr. Martin Randle.

Keeping a low profile, they have long since run through the funds supplied by donations from friends and supporters, and have been paying for much of this help out of their own pockets. Any animal lovers on the island who would like to support their efforts and help out with donations, please let us know. It's unlikely they can continue without ongoing financial aid, so this is a serious and timely request.

I have offered to look after the accounting for them, so please contact me about donations.

And thank you!
