Thetis Infrastructure Task Group - Public Meeting at Forbes Hall (Tuesday, 2 July, 7pm)
Friday, June 28, 2024 at 8:10AM The Thetis Infrastructure Task Group is made up of TIRRA (Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers Association – Solid Waste Yard), TIPC (Thetis Island Port Commission – Community Dock & Boat Launch), TIID (Thetis Island Improvement District – TIVFD/Firehall) and TICA (Thetis Island Community Association – Forbes Hall Community Centre).
For the past 6 months our group has been working with the CVRD on their funding, planning, and assistive work for Thetis Island. Each year Thetis Island pays about 1/3 of Area G’s taxes, yet we only make up 1/4 of the population. Most funding goes to services Thetis Island residents rarely access.
We would like to hear from the community. Property Tax Day is 2 July, and we thought it appropriate to hold the meeting on this date.
There will be brief introduction statements by each of the four groups, and a 10-minute financial presentation by Paul Duncan before we open the floor to you. All concerns, questions and ideas will be recorded for use in our future meetings with the CVRD.
