Survey: Home Care Services for Seniors

In their work towards accessing health care and support for Thetis Islanders, the Forbes Hall Health Services Group is working with Island Health and other agencies towards providing community care services for island seniors. These services are provided to help our seniors stay in their own homes with the support needed to ensure a healthy and safe situation.

This brief survey investigates the challenges many seniors face in staying in their own homes, whether it be for safety or health reasons.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. If a Thetis Islander you know may need assistance with the completion of this survey, please reach out to them.

No personal data, including emails, will be collected from this survey, it is simply the first step in the process.

Gorgeous New Signage at the Container Recycling Site — It will Delight & Inform You!

For those donating their bottles & other containers to

the Thetis Island School, ….

PLEASE—PRETTY PLEASE--carefully sort your donations.

This is NOT the place for NO-REFUND items.

No-refund items stress the refundable bottle/container system and have to be removed and disposed of by our hard-working volunteers L

We have updated our signage with beautiful artwork by the students which clearly indicate which items are accepted at this site. All other items need to be taken off island to a local recycling depot such as Peerless or Bings Creek.

NOTE: Containers such as coffee cream and soup broth are not “ready to drink” and cannot be accepted.

We want to thank our faithful community for continuing to support our school with your consistent donations! It really does make a difference for the students in your community.

TIRRA Member Meeting Notice

Tuesday, October 24th at 7PM, Forbes Hall, will be the Fall Meeting of TIRRA (Thetis Island Residents' and Ratepayers').

Personalized notices have been sent via email. If you did not receive a notice, and you are a TIRRA member or new landowner, please advise us at tirracommunications@gmail.com, to correct for future advices.

Apologies to those who did receive the notice: We are re-sending the notice, as a technology glitch caused the June 29 date to be pulled forward to this October notice. Thank you for your understanding as we adapt to the new protocols and the odd glitch surfaces.

Cedar Beach Pizza Closed Tues Through Thursday

The cook will be having too much fun feeding the divers coming to Thetis this week...........so

Pizza is closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will reopen Friday and will be open all weekend.

Hope to hear from you then. Pizza has been very quiet since all your guests went home at the end of summer.

Telegraph Harbour - Cafe hours

Thank you all so much for coming Saturday, what a community. We really appreciated all your support!

For all the regulars, the local contributors, and the once in a year visitors, thank you for making the cafe what it has become.

The cafe will have new hours for the fall. We're trying to be open for the community, if you have any suggestions on hours we may consider or that you would appreciate us having we'd love to hear!

Tuesday 10-4:30

Wednesday 1:30 to 6pm.

Thursday-Sunday 10-4:30

Monday Closed.

If you have an event you want to organise or support, we can arrange to stay open late and will advertise those nights here (Cribbage Night has been mentioned, as have games nights, movie nights and live music nights)

We are also open to hosting dinners to showcase a local chef, or cuisine. Those might be on a pre reservation basis initially.

From Chris Kelsey...

Long-time Thetis resident, Sheila Kelsey, passed away peacefully on September 20 in the Comox Valley. Denham was at her side.

Although Sheila moved to the Comox Valley with Denham in her later years for additional care, Thetis was always home.

There will be a celebration of Sheila’s life at Forbes Hall in November.

Goosey Gander Shop Hours on Sunday

There are again many more new items this week, lots of jewelry, a ‘baby’ table full of baby items, charming kids’ toys, and quite a few miscellaneous interesting things including a harmonica with instruction books, a kaleidoscope, and even some signs that light up. Come on by and have a look.
