CVRD 2024 Tax Increase 6%

“ The CVRD Committee of the Whole will meet on May 10/23 to consider a Finance Division 2024 Budget Direction Recommendation

1) That it be recommended to the Board that Option 1 for a 6% increase to the Core Budget be set as the 2024 budget mandate

2) That it be recommended to the Board to exclude Transit Services, the Vancouver Island Regional Library Service and the new Regional Recreation Service from the budget mandate.”

I guess Transit, Library, and Recreation are all add-ons to this tax increase?

Thetis Island Farm Co-op Pasture Raised Pork Shares Available

Many of our shares are already sold out but a small number of sides or whole pigs are still available to reserve.

Our heritage breed pigs will be raised on pasture at Telegraph Farm by farmers Brianna & Ryan. The pigs enjoy a wonderful summer and early fall freely ranging and foraging and getting the spoils of excess farm produce, spent grains and fallen fruit.

Pigs are gently transported to a local government certified abattoir in Duncan in two batches - first six in October and the second six in November.

$5.5/lb hanging weight is what is paid to farmers to cover their time and expense and each person pays their share of the slaughter and butchery costs. You can customize your order with the butcher for the exact cuts you'd like.

Only sides and full pigs available. If you want a smaller amount, we'll leave it up to you to partner with a friend or neighbour and sort out your own ways to share.

Questions, reservations to orders@jollityfarm.ca or 250.415.0101 (email is preferred)

With thanks,

Thetis Island Farm Co-operative

Sausages are Back in Stock!

Our friends at HAUS in Victoria who make our custom sausages each year, have just made us up a fresh batch. While the pork is not from our own pigs this time (as ours won't be ready until autumn), we know all meat is sourced locally with attention to sustainability, ethics and quality. Sausages are Gluten Free with all natural casings.

We'll be adding the selection to our order form for the coming week, and will have these flavours available at market on Saturday:

Coconut Currywurst

English Banger

Maple Blueberry

Smoked Date & Sea Cider

Sriracha Blue Cheese

Questions, reservations to orders@jollityfarm.ca
