Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 8:21AM The TICA Art Committee is looking for art specific to Thetis Island for a display at Forbes Hall Community Centre. Do you own a painting of your cabin, foreshore, or perhaps a sketch of your dinghy on its pin, that you’d like to have included?
This show will be made up of loaned paintings or drawings of Thetis Island beaches, trails, forests, cabins, gardens, or boats at anchor. The loan of this artwork will be for the rest of the summer.
This display will be up in time for the Book and Bake Sale AND evening concert on Saturday August 6th. The art will be shown throughout the hall and will complement Deborah Martin’s paintings currently on display.
Deborah’s paintings are for sale with the proceeds benefiting TICA’s Back into the Black Debt Reduction Program.
If you are willing to loan artwork to be included in this show, please contact Ellen Rush at ellenrush@gmail.com or Carol Sowerby at sowerby@seaside.net to arrange a drop off time at the hall.

Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 8:21AM 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Wild Creatives: Hapa-Zome Printing (all ages)
Location: The Nature House at The Portal, 254 North Cove Road
Join Erica to do this fun craft, appropriate for any age interested! Hapa-Zome, literally meaning ‘leaf-dye’, is a Japanese printmaking technique that uses the natural pigments of leaves and flowers to make beautiful printed designs. This is done by smashing them into a fabric, usually cotton or linen. We will provide materials but feel free to bring any flowers and/or fabric you feel inspired to use.
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm ThINC Tank: Screening of Island of the Sea Wolves - Episode 2: Summer (youth, adults)
Location: The Nature House at The Portal, 254 North Cove Road
Join us for the second episode of Island of the Sea Wolves (2022)! If you missed the first episode about spring on the coast last week, no worries! You can join us for Episode 2 about the summer. This series explores the wildlife of the Vancouver Island coast and sheds light on the unique species of sea wolves that inhabit the coast. This documentary provides exceptional cinematography and insight into the world of the sea wolves. It will be followed by a discussion of the episode.
Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 8:20AM I have been wondering if water storage tanks (of which I am a big fan) might provide excellent breeding grounds for an abundance of mosquitoes. My tank has a tight-fitting strainer under the lid where the down spout goes in, but I am sure that many do not. Fitting the tops of the tanks with tight fitting mosquito netting around the inlets and outlets would likely be possible in most cases.

The inflatable needs work but has a removable floor and some good features.
Perfect for a handy boater. call me at 250-891-6345.
