Wanted

Does anyone have a new spf 2"x4"x12' that I could borrow until next week when I can return it after I go to Home Depot? I have a lot of lumber here but mine is weathered and could have nails in it? I also prefer not to have anything with a possibility of insects in it coming into the house.

2:00 pm start
Expert Excursion: Community Action Projects with Charlotte Fesnoux
(youth, adults)
Location: The Portal, 254 North Cove Road

A Thetis Island tool library, fruitful community gardens, a collaborative solar power project, resource exchange, trail network expansion, a native plant nursery - the list goes on. Projects that boost Thetis Island’s resilience and sustainability are endless and are all possible. But to increase the chances of project success, a solid foundation - exploring the realities of the project, roles, responsibilities, and overall project sustainability - is essential. This Friday, from 2-4pm, Charlotte will facilitate a workshop on how to collaborate on sustainable action projects and will provide a lattice in which you can grow your project. Be ready to ideate, engage, and collaborate!

This workshop is ideal for parents engaged in homeschooling activities and anyone keen to participate in collaborative projects that make our island home more sustainable.

Emergency Scene Traffic Control

Lately a few of the travelling public near the Community Dock have been putting our First Responders at risk.

We have “Emergency Scene Ahead” signs, traffic cones and stop & slow paddles to indicated that we need you to slow, stop and pay attention.

Please do not try to pass stopped traffic.

Please obey the Emergency Scene Traffic Control fire fighter. We all want to get home safely.

Recent Thefts

Hi,

My name is Caroline Hanson and my husband, Steve, and I have a cottage at 262 Forbes Drive. I just saw Chris’s post in E-spokes today about the recent Thefts. Just thought I would pass this on….not sure if it is helpful or not, but the night the gas tank was stolen from the boat I was awoken by a boat with a loud motor going close to shore at 3:15 am. The boat was heading south and cut it’s engine around the cove, about 6 houses down, so I just thought it was someone just coming home late ;) Anyways, the motor started again, so I went out on our balcony to see the boat head across the water in the direction of Chemainus/Ladysmith. With not knowing much about boats, It was an open tin type boat. I wasn’t sure who I should contact to let them know what I saw, until I saw Chris’s post today. Hope this is helpful in some way in catching these thieves!
