Wanted: Produce Mesh Bags (for recycle/re-use) Project

Would appreciate receiving any plastic mesh produce or onion sacks you don't know what to do with for repurposing into dish scrubbers.

Phone for pickup or drop into vintage mailbox at the bottom of Lot 99 driveway.

I will be making recycled pot scrubbers that will be available with my solid dish soap at the Market this summer.

Thanks in advance.

Seeking Border Collie Breeder

Asking for a friend.

Does anyone know of and can recommend a reputable Border Collie breeder, please?

Their last pup only lasted them 2 years before needing to be put down. They later learned that breeder had run a puppy mill in the prairies & most of that litter had the same problem.

Happy Birthday TICA!

February 26th, 1981-2026 ~ 45th Anniversary of Thetis Island Community Association

On this day 45 years ago, Thetis Islanders Elmer Bichel, Donna Kaiser, Harry Pardee, Don McClinton and David Vickers signed the papers of incorporation that created the Thetis Island Community Association.

Sitting on a log in the forest of the land which would soon be donated to the newly formed TICA, members looked forward to being able to create a place for the whole community to use and enjoy, and the path to our current Forbes Hall began. After the land was formally donated by the Forbes sisters in December 1981, the outhouses were built, followed a couple of years later by the building of the Pavilion (then called the outdoor kitchen), and in a few more years the original Forbes Hall, and subsequently the library addition, the sports court and the playground. More recently, in 2021 the new Forbes Hall Community Centre opened, and in this past year the installation of solar panels was completed.

To read more about the evolution of TICA and Forbes Hall have a look at the new TICA Archive Display boards in the front corridor of the hall.

A heartfelt thank you to our generous, creative and hard-working community for its commitment in providing these wonderful facilities to all islanders.

Thetis Island's Trails

Super Thanks to the Island Trails committee and volunteers for their care and stewardship of the trail system, and to the property owners and donators who made the trails accessible to all.

And a special seasonal shout out to Jim Moloney for maintaining, especially in these wet winter days, the road-side parking strip across from the trail to the summit of Burchell Hill.

Cautionary request to drivers coming round the bend of North Cove Road by Forbes Rd: please slow down for walkers (and leashed dogs) crossing the road from the parked cars to the trail head.

Happy Trails to All...

Support Ivan’s U9 Hockey Team

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already supplied gift cards, cash donations, and raffle items. Your generosity is truly appreciated, and we are very excited for this special weekend for the kids. Your support is helping make it possible.

Ivan’s U9 hockey team with Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey is excited to host our U9 Jamboree on March 14 and 15, 2026 at Fuller Lake Arena and the Cowichan Community Centre.

We are continuing to reach out to our local community for support to help make the weekend extra special. We are currently seeking raffle prize donations such as gift cards, products, services, or experiences, and we are also welcoming business sponsorships.

Funds raised go directly toward player swag bags, snacks between games, and small tournament extras that make the event memorable for these young athletes. At this age, it is all about building confidence, friendships, and a love of the game. Community support truly makes a difference.

If anyone has anything else they would like to contribute, the deadline for collecting items is March 2nd. Please reach out if you are able to support or have any questions.

Thank you again for your support,

Soup’s On: Wednesday, February 25th, 2026

Gather at Forbes Hall for a very Thetis Island lunch...

Menu:
