The official notification for the TIRRA Annual General Meeting went out by email on Saturday to all landowners and members from 2024. If you should have received it and didn't, please check your spam folders, and if it's not there, please let me know at veronicashelford@gmail.com. It may be that you've had an email address change that isn't recorded in the bulk mailing program. The notification is also posted at TIRRA's webpages, at https://thetisisland.net/tirra/tirra-office.html.
As a reminder - this is an incredibly important meeting for the future of TIRRA - which is to say, the future of ANY garbage management on Thetis, any input on the state and maintenance of our roads, the trails system, the cemetery, the phone book, espokes - the list goes on. The work is not onerous, but it does need to be done. Please consider standing for one of the roles in the executive board ranks.
And remember the "snippets"! You can find them again at https://www.thetisisland.net/tirra/whatwedo.html

On Saturday May 31st from 10-3, St. Margaret’s Cemetery Committee will be having its annual maintenance day. The cemetery is a vault of island history and is the permanent home for many of our forebears. From tidying up headstones, to general landscaping there will be a range of projects to suit everyone's interests and abilities. We welcome all Islanders.
Please plan to come by and join us, we encourage everyone to join. If possible, please bring small garden tools for general landscaping and/or scrub brushes and water pails to clean grave markers. We would encourage you to contribute to the picnic lunch, where we will remember and celebrate the lives that came before us.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

Good day,
Well I was 30 minutes too slow this morning and missed out on yesterday’s free bike, however, I am still looking for one.
Does anyone have one in their space collecting clothes instead of miles?
Please text Dawn at 250-210-0826.
Thank you.

As you will have noticed from the rainfall statistics posted on e-Spokes yesterday, we are already in a drying trend. We have now moved up to MODERATE fire danger. If you have a yard waste permit valid until May 15th, please be aware that there is increased risk from sparks and embers and monitor your burn closely, with tools and water ready to extinguish and a phone available to call 911 if needed.
Keep your campfires small in the evening and watch the wind. Your campfire is extinguished properly if you would have no worries about setting a baby’s bare bottom on it.
One of the best preparations for Wildfire Season is to start or continue Fire Smarting your property. We have the Provincial Fire Smart program on Thetis Island and our Fire Smart technician, Stu Downey, is ready to assist you (250-210-2789).
