Fire Dept Urgent Message (Wed, 22-July-2026)

As of 2:30 this afternoon (Wednesday) the outside temperature gauge at the firehall was reading 33.6°C (92.5°F). t

The Air Quality from the two sensors on Thetis Island are in the ORANGE zone (green, yellow, orange, red, purple) which means there may be a respiratory risk for some people within 24 hours of exposure, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution. You can check the Thetis Island Purple Air sensors at <www.purpleair.com>. The sensors update every 10 minutes.

Firefighters know a lot about smoke and the fine particulate matter that makes up haze from wildfires. We strongly suggest you not exercise in this heat and haze, make sure you keep hydrated, and check the sites like Purple Air <www.purpleair.com> and <firesmoke.ca> to keep updated on what is going on in our airshed.

2027 Thetis Island Calendar – Call Out to Photographers

TICA will be offering a 2027 calendar of beautiful images of Thetis Island. Previous calendars have been enjoyed by many islanders, friends and family.

This is a call out to all photographers to start reviewing your photos or take new ones for submission.

This is an earlier call-out than usual, hoping to spur you into action!

Submission information and requirements will be posted within the coming week.

Looking forward to seeing Thetis through your eyes!

2026 Calendar Cover

Updated Thetis Island Phonebook and Emergency Contact Information

An updated Thetis Island Phonebook is in the works. With a new team taking over its preparation, a few changes are being made to ensure the information can be managed accurately and maintained sustainably by future phonebook volunteers.

The Communications Committee is asking everyone who wishes to be included in the phonebook to submit an information form, even if the information in the current edition is still correct. At the same time, we are collecting updated information for the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department (TIVFD) so it has accurate contact and property information in the event of an emergency.

An Individual Information Form (www.thetisisland.net/tirra/documents/TI_Phone_Book-Individual_Data_Form.pdf) has been created to collect information for both the phonebook and the TIVFD. If you do not want your name or certain contact details published in the phonebook, please check the “Do Not List” box beside the applicable field. That information will then be shared only with the TIVFD. A separate Business and Services Listing Form (www.thetisisland.net/tirra/documents/TI_Phone_Book-Individual_Data_Form.pdf) is available for local businesses and service providers.

Once completed, please save the form or forms and email them to phonebook@thetisisland.net. If submitting them electronically is not possible, paper copies may be mailed to: Thetis Island Phonebook, PO Box 141, Thetis Island, BC, V0R 2Y0

A dedicated Phonebook Information Page (thetisisland.net/tirra/tirra-phonebook.html) is also available and contains the forms, submission instructions and information about the update process.

Dangerous Goods - Thursday

There will be Dangerous Goods to Thetis only on Thursday. This means vehicles and passengers can depart on the ferry from Thetis at 0900 but no one can board at the 130 pm ferry departing Thetis.
