Cool Girls Nature Club

Hey women,

The Cool Girls Nature Club is meeting tomorrow new location.

Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

at Pilkey Point 

This is a very low-key gathering. Come sit on the beach, drink your tea, breathe some ocean air…or dip, swim, paddle, float, or just watch.

Wetsuit, bathing suit, nature suit — all welcome.

Your presence is perfect exactly as it is.

This is simply a way for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes to gather outdoors for a little relaxed, non-pressured fun. And honestly… why not jump in the ocean while we’re at it?

Fun fact: Swimming, especially in the ocean, has been known to increase feelings of resilience and connection, particularly when done together.

If you’d like to join but the timing doesn’t work, please let me know. If enough people need a different time, I’m very happy to accommodate.

Hope to see you — even if it’s just toes in the sand.

Things About Thetis' Talk at Forbes Hall, February 19th 7:00 pm

BC Heritage Week, an annual province-wide celebration held the third week of February, is intended to inspire people to connect with local heritage.

To mark this, Quentin Goodbody, President of the Ladysmith & District Historical Society, a history nerd, property owner on Thetis Island and a TIRRA Board member, will present an illustrated talk about the geology and history of Thetis Island.

All are welcome.

There will be DG to Thetis on Thursday.  

IN addition to DG going to Thetis on Thursday (and returning to Chemainus at 1330), there will be DG LEAVING Penelakut at 1305, which means the departure from Chemainus at 1230 will only carry those going to Penelakut, not Thetis.

Community Talk: Pacific Herring Recovery on Feb 25

Remember the remarkable herring spawn around Thetis Island last spring? That vivid event was more than a natural spectacle, it highlighted what’s at stake for Pacific Herring in the Strait of Georgia.

According to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), herring have been overharvested to the point of extirpation south of Dodd Narrows, making recovery especially difficult.

Does anyone on Thetis have a stationary exercise bike I can borrow for a couple of months or one that they would like to sell.

I am recovering from an injury, and the use of a stationary bike would be very helpful.
