Soup’s On Starts Today, October 5th at Forbes Hall

11:30 am until 1:00 pm (earlier if we run out!)

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to gathering at Forbes Hall to enjoy a bowl of soup!

First lunch of the season:

  • Mushroom Barley Soup
  • Cheese Scones
  • Home-made Treats
  • Teas and Coffee

Soup’s On started in September 2008 with the suggested donation of $5 per person, in 2022 we have been forced to face reality and, after much thought, have increased lunch to a suggested donation of $7 per person.

Everyone is welcome to join us, seniors, seniors who don’t think they’re seniors, workers, families, and everyone who just wants a mid-day meal!

See you today!

AED Familiarization – Main Firehall – 1:00 pm Wednesday

Following Soup’s On at Forbes Hall this Wednesday there will be a great opportunity for Pilkey Point residents interested in learning how to use the public access AED located outside the Pilkey Fire Hall. Our Community Paramedic, Vinh, will go over the ZOLL AED (automated defibrillator) procedures and show you how to apply the electrodes etc.

This will be at 1pm at the firehall on Mission Road, so you can wander over after Soups on.

You don’t have to be a Pilkey Point resident to attend. You just need a desire to learn how to use a public AED in an emergency   There are public access AEDs located outside both Firehalls, at Forbes Hall and several residents have purchased one for their home.

See you after Soup!

Fire Weather Forecast

OUTLOOK Wednesday through Friday: The blocking upper ridge resurges northward, flattens, then retrogrades back over the Pacific the latter half of the week maintaining stable and dry conditions. Some early morning cloud and precipitation may linger for Wednesday through northern outer coastal areas, however generally sunnier conditions are then expected to dominate the remainder of the timeframe. Temperatures remain warmer and RH’s remain drier, with light inflows remaining as well although a few areas may see outflows just due to a lack of gradient and ridge shifts in positioning.

CONFIDENCE/DISCUSSION: Good confidence, this ridge feature has been persistent and at least into the mid-range isn’t showing any signs of moving or breaking down. We may see some minor adjustments around RH’s, however the overall the message is ‘dry’.

6 TO 10 DAY Saturday through next Wednesday: The upper ridge continues, shifting and evolving but still present and not showing any signs of moving or breaking down. Expect status quo in conditions, and we’ll have to wait to see when this feature may decide to finally budge. Hints occasionally appear near day 10, but low confidence.

(Note:  RH = Relative Humidity)

Christmas Market

December 3rd from 10:00 to 2:00.

Have you been thinking about taking part?  Tables are $10 each and at this point we are limiting vendors to 1 table each until we know how many want to take part - and how much room we have for everyone!

You can book table sizes of 8’, 6’, and 4’ but get your name in soon, because they’re going fast!  You can book a table through Eleanor Vandergaag - roneleanorv@gmail.com and if you have any questions, Eleanor can help you.

We’re expecting a great turnout - especially with a super lunch to be provided!  Come join the fun!
