Christmas Market - Saturday at Forbes Hall!!

Yes, this Saturday is the Christmas Market - from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. - and there is so much to get excited about!  Maybe the amazing lunch on offer.  How about the huge draw prize?  Or the jelly-bean count for the kids?  Not to mention over 30 vendors with a wide variety of wares to complete your Christmas shopping!

Don't forget your cash - although some vendors will accept e-transfers or cheques.  And a bag to take home all the goodies.  And there will be a food hamper ready to take donations for those in need.

And about those vendors - this is what they tell us they'll have on offer:  hand-knit items, wooden snowmen, turned wooden trees, gnomes and bowls, baked goodies, breads, the Cowichan Knitters will be there, too, rope bowls, children's clothing, jams, jellies and preserves, soaps, tree ornaments, glass art, pens turned from local wood, TICA, ThINC and the Volunteer Fire Department will all have merchandise for sale, local authors, pottery, jewellery, cloth trivets, mixed media journals and gift tags, smoked salmon and drawings.  And I'm sure a whole lot more!  Something for everyone!

Thank You, Emcom on Thetis!

Tuesday’s snow, hail, ice and wind debris had our Emcom Contractor Joe Lange keeping the roads safe until evening and then Joe Knowles took over the ploughing and scraping throughout the night.

Thank you for the excellent job, Two Joes!

The Fire Department is grateful for your support in keeping our roads clear for emergencies no matter what time of day or night!

Looking for Mushrooms & Marine Items

First time posting. Looking for some items and info.

I've been foraging for medicinal  mushrooms recently... not giving up yet... but in case I don’t find those I'm searching...lion’s mane particularly...  I'm interested in all varieties found here... maybe some one knows where I can get a small local sample for a cultivation project. I've been growing these many years and wild harvesting for longer yet.

Also seeking some marine items... 6 ft oars... with or without locks... small outboard... gas or electric... and a battery for testing ... and archery equipment arrows, etc.

I prefer trades or freecycling neglected and forgotten potential. Cash as needed.  I can pick-up... maybe lend a hand.  The absence of the free store at the dump is notable since last I was here.

Things have changed and still remain much the same in this moss-covered wonderland. Strong  dock, sharp saw, and a waterline that doesn't freeze.
