Wanted: Trailer or Camper to Rent on Island

Does anyone on the island have a small tent trailer or camper that we can rent for the Labour Day weekend? It would stay on a secure property on Thetis Island and it would *just* be for sleeping.  

We are very responsible people and we'd be very careful with it (and we'd be super grateful for the rental!).

Needing a One-envelope Pickup from Island Blue

We hope there's someone in Victoria who's coming up to Thetis for this weekend, and can pick up the proof of the Quarterly for us from Island Blue on Fort Street.  It will probably be ready by Friday noon.  We'd let you know if they get it done earlier.  It'll be just one envelope, but it will save a week in processing time if it can be picked up instead of mailed!

COVID Vaccination Clinic Update

The COVID vaccine clinic is occurring on Sept. 7th at Forbes Hall. Both Moderna and Pfizer vaccine will be available on this day. 

The "new bivalent vaccine" which is thought to work against new strains of COVID is not yet available and will likely not be available until the end of October. Some people may wish to wait and receive this vaccine as their next booster. If you wish to wait until the bivalent vaccine becomes available in BC (no set date yet), please email covidclinic@thetisislandfire.ca to cancel your registration with the upcoming clinic.

Note if you receive your booster on Sept. 7th, you will likely need to wait 6 months to receive the "new bivalent vaccine".

Hello,

My name is Beth, and I recently graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Camosun College.  

I look forward to visiting Thetis Island to provide relaxation and deep tissue massage as I await my registration exams. Unfortunately, as I am unregistered at this time, I cannot accept payment through benefits, but I accept cash, cheque, or e-transfer.  

My availability will be 8:30-3:30 on Monday, August 29th, September 5th, September 12th, and September 26th.  

All treatments will be one hour in length, with room for five people to receive treatment. 

Appointment times: 8:30 am, 9:45 am, 11:35 am, 1:00 pm and 2:15 pm.

9:00 am start: Wednesday Wander at Fairyslipper Forest (all ages)

Join us for our last wander of the summer! Come out and identify bird and plant species with us one last time! This morning Linnea will be focused on pointing out edible and medicinal plants along the path; and, as always, we will be logging what we see on iNaturalist and eBird, see you there! 

2:00 - 4:00 pm: Make your own all-purpose cleaner using herbs from the PAG, Lot 62 North Cove Road (all ages)

Today we will be creating a vinegar-based all-purpose cleaner using the bountiful herbs from our People’s Apothecary Garden. This homemade cleaner is a natural and powerful alternative to store bought cleaners which can have harsh chemicals. For the cleaners we can use mint, rosemary, lavender, thyme, sage and lemon balm, all of which smell great and will clean super well! Come on down to create your own unique cleaner alternative.

Butt Out

Someone is dropping cigarette butts on the private driveway that starts at 158A Pilkey Point Road and carries on as a private service road for the owners of Lots 159 to 164.  If you must smoke while you are trespassing, please carry your cigarette butts home in your pocket.
