Wednesday Wander at Fairyslipper Forest (all ages)
Start your morning listening to the beautiful bird songs, identifying and learning about plant species in Fairyslipper Forest! We will use eBird and iNaturalist to grow the citizen science data of species on Thetis! Meet at the Fairyslipper parking lot at 9:00 am!
2:00 pm start: Stinging Nettle Deliciousness at Jollity Farm (all ages)
Albeit unpleasant if stung, stinging nettles are rich in antioxidants and are delicious when cooked! For this week's food security workshop, Linnea will be sharing the incredible benefits of stinging nettles. She will explain how to identify the species and offer tips and techniques on how and when to harvest them. Participants will be introduced to stinging nettle cordage and will also take home a tasty nettle treat!
Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 8:33AM BC Ferries is providing complimentary ferry travel on the Penelakut Island – Thetis Island – Chemainus route on Monday, August 1st only, in support of the Spune’luxutth’ March for the Children of the residential schools.
This applies to all fares (foot passenger and vehicles) on all sailings, bound for both islands for August 1.

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 8:31AM There will be a light-labour work party on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Lawrence Trail, and we would welcome anyone who would like to help and learn about flood mitigation at the same time. All the materials are in place, so no heavy labour is involved this time. What tools might be handy to bring - shovels/rakes.

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 8:30AM In the 2 e-spokes posting regarding the upcoming GM, we offered to answer questions submitted by July 17th and post results by July 20th. Two residents sent queries.
One query was for a more detailed summary of the three budget 2023 scenarios.
The second query had several points:
- were small island comparables appropriate?
- was a local hauler/supplier considered?
- is a paid position to collect fees the best method?
- how were usage estimates arrived at?
and more.
A 3 scenario budget worksheet and a recap of the second query questions and responses is posted on the Community website on the Community tab>Waste Management:

Thermal Arc Stick/Tig Inverter welding machine with 25' tig torch setup (torch, lines, regulator) and tank. Machine is a 120-volt inverter with stinger, ground, dvd, carrying case, and afore mentioned tig torch setup. Tank is a privately owned tank, just need to exchange at Air Liquide for full tank when required (welding gas is not free, requires purchase, but the tank exchange is free).

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 8:24AM We are wanting to install a propane kitchen stove in place of our electric oven. Does anyone know of an installer that is capable of putting the propane lines into our house and advise us on propane tanks for outside.
