Forbes Hall Work Party - Thank You

A big thank you to all the folks who turned out to get Forbes Hall cleaned, tidied, and organized for the busy season we have coming up.  It was great to see the comradery and the “we can do this” attitude that was so apparent! It was a joy for the organizers to see so many gathered for a yummy lunch in the lovely fall sunshine.

Thanks to all those who took time to share their skills and time with the community.

Soup’s On Starts Wednesday, October 5th at Forbes Hall

11:30 am until 1:00 pm (earlier if we run out)

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to gathering at Forbes Hall to enjoy a bowl of soup!
First lunch of the season:

  • Mushroom Barley Soup
  • Cheese Scones
  • Home-made Treats
  • Teas and Coffee

Soup’s On started in September 2008 with the suggested donation of $5 per person, in 2022 we have been forced to face reality and, after much thought, have increased lunch to a suggested donation of $7 per person.

Everyone is welcome to join us, seniors, seniors who don’t think they’re seniors, workers, families, and everyone who just wants a mid-day meal!

See you on Wednesdays!

We Did It!

We are grateful to all the wonderful people who came out to help us reach the final stretch (literally!).

It was an incredible feat of ingenuity and cooperation to move this awkward 3000 lb piece of rubber into a giant pond.

Little by little we folded and stretched, folded and stretched until we were able to move this massive burrito 90 degrees (with the help of a crane).  Then came the work to unfold and stretch, unfold and stretch up each slippery slope! Every person contributed so many great ideas, and pushed and pulled with all their strength and good spirit!

Check out our instagram page for a few shots and videos of the progress

Thank you Thetis Islanders for really helping to make this a community farm!

I’ll be walking on the 11:05am ferry Tuesday so just thought I’d see if anyone is travelling north to Ladysmith or Nanaimo off of the same ferry. Looking for a ride to Nanaimo airport for 3pm flight and happy to provide gas $s.

If not, no worries at all and have a great day everyone! Best way to contact me is to email me at keya.white@gmail.com or text/voicemail 250-278-2778 (cell on airplane mode most of time on Thetis.)

Thanks again.

Jollity Pond Project... the final STRETCH!

We had the most incredible turnout to help with the big pond liner lift last Sunday. A huge thank you to everyone who came out. Just like a good old barn raising, this liner lifting truly showed the power of many hands to do great things.

Unfortunately we have one more lift to be done in order to finish this off before the rains come.
Could you help us with a little tug, roll, tuck and heave ho this Sunday please?

Some of the brilliant engineering minds on Thetis have done some mind-melding and come up with a great plan on how to complete the project. As before, it will require many hands working together for the final turn and stretch.

If you have the time and energy (and leaf blowers) to spare, we would be so grateful if you'd be willing to lend some hands.

We will gather SUNDAY MORNING AT 9:30 AM so we can get it done early and before the heat of the day.

With thanks, Jollity Farmers!
