Warmer Weather Predicted: Know Your Mushrooms

Environment Canada has just sent out information that we are heading into a ridge of high-pressure starting May 31-June 1 that will bring temperatures 2 to 5 degrees above normal.  This is not a high heat event but due to the recent cool, unsettled, and wet weather, this coming heat may produce a lot of mushrooms popping up, several species of which are toxic to humans, cats, and dogs.  Please know your mushrooms and don’t let your pets eat mushrooms when out on walks.

The Amanita Mushrooms are especially toxic, and a couple of the Amanita species have been found on Thetis.

Oversized Vehicles on Ferry Friday and Saturday

We will have two 30+ foot vehicles, hoping for a spot on the 4:05p or 7:15p ferries to Thetis on Friday 27 May.  Both vehicles will likely be heading back on Saturday, but I don't yet know what time.
On return we can try to split them up so as not to hog too much of any one sailing.

Asparagus Delivery to Victoria

Perhaps you are reading this from your home in Victoria, and wish you could enjoy the best Thetis Island organically grown asparagus? Well guess what? You can!

Next Thursday, June 2 we'll be swinging through the city on our usual route and can make a couple of delivery stops. Perhaps you'd like to offer to family or neighbours and let them delight in a real Thetis Island grown delicacy. It's only here until it's gone for another year.
(ps. we can drop off Jollity salad greens and our pastured pork sausages at the same time :)

Join us virtually to celebrate the publication of Coast Salish Elder Raymond Tony Charlie's new book, In the Shadow of the Red Brick Building (Askew Creek, 2022). In the book, Ray Tony shares his personal story as a residential school survivor and his journey to healing.

As a child, Ray Tony attended both Kuper Island (now Penelakut Island) residential school and St. Mary’s residential school in Mission, B.C. His new book is one of several ways that he has patiently shared his struggles and healing journey to help people understand what really happened at these institutions, and to support others in their own healing.

Please join us as we stand with Ray Tony Charlie to celebrate his accomplishment as a new author and to acknowledge the journey he took to get there. Penelakut Elder Florence James and her son Rocky James will also stand with Ray Tony as relatives and to offer cultural support at the event.

LG 39" LED Screen TV

If you want a smaller size TV for a guest room or for the kid's room this one is yours for free. On a stand; wall mount bracket not included.
Made in Mexico in June 2013. Model 39LN5300 comes with instruction booklet and Roku add-on.
Still works, so I'd rather not take it in to the recycling depot.
Pick up in Chemainus near the ferry.
