TICA/TIRRA Membership 2022

The TICA/TIRRA Membership 2022 form was sent out to all 2021 TICA/and/or TIRRA members at the end of January. 

Thank you to everyone who has sent in their cheques or e-transfers.

If you sent your membership dues by e-transfer please remember to mail your completed membership form to TICA, Box 14-0, Thetis Island, BC,V0R2Y0 or you can scan it to deposit@forbeshall.ca.

In order to keep your membership file current, we need to know your current address and email addresses.

If you have a TICA family membership please indicate who the 2 voting members are.
TIRRA needs to know if there are any additional voting members to be added as their family membership allows for more than 2 voting members.

New members can find the form at forbeshall.ca under membership at the top of the website.

Calling all New Islanders!

If you have moved to Thetis in the last two years, but haven't contacted me about inclusion in the Thetis Island Phone Book, would you please consider doing so?  I am almost finished assembling the data for the 2022 version of the book (it comes out about every two years) so if you've been meaning to contact me but haven't yet, please do.  

Being in the book isn't just a social thing - the phone book is what the Fire Department uses when there's a call-out, to get a quick sense of who is at the address where the emergency is happening, and what possible needs they might want to prepare for. Or if you're a part-time islander, they may need to contact you if there is some damage at your property.

If you will allow us to include your information, please email me at veronicashelford@gmail.com or call at 250-246-1509.  And soon please? I'd like to get this finished.  But even if you miss the book, please still let me know so that you can be in the database. That's the back-up source for the fire department if you aren't in the book.

REMINDER: TIMA upcoming AGM

REMINDER: The AGM for the Thetis Island Marine Association (TIMA) is set for Saturday, March 5, 7:00pm at Forbes Hall. 
PLEASE NOTE  that this is a pivotal meeting as it will decide the future of TIMA. The present executive have been involved for 15 years and are ready to step down. If new people don't come forward to fill at least 3 positions, TIMA will fold.
 
If you are presently a boat owner, or plan to be in the future ; if marine safety in the harbour is important to you ; if you care about environmental protection or the general beauty of the harbour , then please attend this meeting. Get involved or at least give your input. Although TIMA has limited potential to enforce regulations, it is at least a local island body to voice our needs. The collapse of TIMA would be a huge loss to our community.

Chemainus Lab

Heads up! If you are heading over to the Chemainus Health Care Centre for lab tests or pick-up or drop off items they ask that you make an appointment. 
To make an appointment go to Chemainus Health Care Centre press website which takes you to their services. Press Laboratory Services and you will see Online Appointment Booking. 

I was there today and had made an appointment days earlier so even though there were people waiting, I walked right into the lab. The lab technicians have requested that making an appointment makes things run smoother for them and you.

Pick-up of the Quarterly needed

We have been told that Island Blue will do their best to try to get the Quarterly printed by Friday.  I won't know until Thursday afternoon if that's been achieved.  But if it has, is there someone who is or will be down there, coming back to Thetis on the weekend, who could pick it up for us on the Friday?  (They're closed on Saturday and Sunday.)

The Summer Soiree and Art Auction is Back
 
On Saturday August 6th, TICA will host The Summer Soiree & Art Auction at Forbes Hall Community Centre.  This popular community event has not been held since the summer of 2016 and we’ve missed it!
 
The Soiree is a community celebration, an opportunity to come together and dine under the summer sky. There will be an auction of art donated by islanders, live music, and a goods and services auction.
 
The Soiree is an important fundraising event for TICA and all proceeds benefit the Forbes Hall Community Centre
 
What to do now? 
Now is the time to look at the art you have leaning against walls and stuffed into closets.
Put a few pieces aside and then this summer; donate them to the Art Auction.
 
Additional details will follow in the coming months.
