Lemon Plant Needing Foster Home for Winter

My lemon plant has enjoyed a nice summer outside but is now starting to get a bit cold and wet. No room at our place.

Looking for somewhere inside and sunny for her to go until next spring.

She lives in about a 14" diameter nice ceramic pot and is only about 3' in diameter and height.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Our cozy, comfortable library is open from 10-1 today.  There are new picture books and family dvds.  A good place on a rainy day.  Masks are required.

Enjoy!

Greetings from the Thetis Island Community Fund

Dear Islanders,

As many of you know the Thetis Island Community Fund usually sends out an annual campaign letter every October.  However, this year we thought we would simply say hello via e-spokes and save on letter printing costs.  It has been an interesting year for the TICF with donations coming in but not many requests needing financial aid, which in turn has allowed our bank account to remain quite happy and healthy.

Our board members are honoured to be stewards of your generosity and we do not wish to ask for funding simply because it is ‘that time of year’.  We encourage islanders, especially those of you who are new to Thetis, to check out our website www.thetisislandcommunityfund.org to familiarize yourselves with the purposes of the TICF. Should anyone be in financial need for medical, educational, or senior support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

For those of you who faithfully have donated to the TICF every year, you certainly are still welcome to do so.  You can find green donation tax slips and return envelopes in the drop box or donate via our PayPal link located on our website.

The state of our funds presently is a testament to the generosity of this wonderful community!  We value your support and do not wish to pressure you needlessly, knowing that if a substantial need arises in the future, giving hearts will come forward to support the Thetis Island Community Fund.

Sincerely,

Tricia Hunter

TICF - President

ThINC

The ThINC board invites you to attend our Annual General Meeting on Saturday Oct 23 at 2 pm in the Nature House at the Portal (254 North Cove Road). Join us to hear about our activities over the year and what we have planned for the coming months, share some refreshments, become a member and vote for (or join!) our Board of Directors. Please park at Heneage House or the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve parking lot and walk down. We will be following public health regulations for COVID-19 for indoor events similar to the hall. Please bring a mask. Currently, proof of vaccination is not required for organized indoor gatherings of 50 people or less. In the unlikely event that more than 50 arrive we'll be overjoyed, but will limit entry.

Become a ThINC member! If you enjoy our nature education programs, walk the trail at the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve, value the protection of the Moore Hill Nature Reserve, are a Food Security Champion or a Project Regeneration Community Expert, have a screech owl box on your property, benefit from our BC Community Bat program, visit the People's Apothecary Garden or appreciate our other stewardship, conservation, sustainability and community food security initiatives, we hope you will become a ThINC member.  The annual membership is only $20 for an individual or family and $5 for a youth membership. Memberships will be available at the AGM or membership forms can be downloaded from our website thetisislandnatureconservancy.organd mailed to us at PO Box 13-3.

Join our board! We're an easy-going enthusiastic bunch dedicated to nature. We have space for new board members.  If you are interested in becoming a ThINC director and have questions, contact Ann at 250-246-8176 or email us at info@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org or simply attend the AGM.

We're grateful for support for nature and conservation on Thetis Island.

We look forward to seeing you on Oct 23.

The ThINC board.

Pot of Gold Coffee is Roasting Again!

We are happy to report that our new environmentally friendly smoke reducing machine is here now and working beautifully.  Although it was a many month process rather than six weeks, we are very happy to be more safe and have our emissions reduced by about 90%.

That being said we do have some extra coffee available after we filled our orders.
If you would like to try some just give a call and we can arrange for pick up at the end of the driveway on Saturday or Sunday only.   250-246-4944

Here are your choices:

2 full pounds Colombia Organic Tolima @ $18.00
1 full pound French Roast $18.00
1 full pound Swiss Water Colombia DECAF $18.00

1/2 pound Brazil Seven Falls $8.50
1/2 pound Colombia Organic Tolima $9.00
1/2 pound El Salvador Organic $9.00
1/2 pound Mokka & Java Blend $8.50
1/2 pound Nicaragua Organic $9.00

1/3 pound Java Estate $6.50
1/3 pound El Salvador Organic $6.00
1/3 pound Sumatra Organic $6.50

Just so you know, if you go on a ‘standing order’ with us we give a special Thetis Islander's discount of $2 off per pound.

Thank you very much!

Marina Specials

The 'Turkey Pie' should have read 'Turkey Pot Pie' and to be more precise, the top is puff pastry.

Also, please note that we are observing the BC public health mask wearing mandate as well as checking immunization records for dine-in customers in the restaurant.

Entry to the Post office and store does not require an immunization record check.

If you, like others, feel better staying home for now, please consider supporting ongoing service in the community by ordering meals for take-out. We will do our best to meet your needs.

Thank you very much,

The staff at Thetis Island Marina

Fall Service/Winterizing

I hope everyone had a good boating season! Thank you for all the business - I apologize if I wasn’t able to get back to you during my busiest time.

If you are requiring a service and/or winterizing this fall, please let me know as early as possible so I can accommodate you.

Also, often getting overlooked are the trailer wheel bearings: it's a good idea to check them, I had two customers this year who almost lost a wheel during transport.

The best way to contact me is always email:
travis@redrockmarine.ca

Alternately, you can leave a message at 250-416-0674 and I will get back to you.

Thank you,

Travis
