Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 7:49AM Missing tabby cat at lower end of Forbes Road
Lately our cat Misha has been away more than he has been home. He is a large, fixed male, tabby cat. He purrs loudly and is very friendly. Maybe he found a second home, as he doesn't seem worse for wear whenever he returns.
We would like for him to come home, as we miss him very much!
Any leads, please text Simone 250 246 4802

Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 7:43AM PARKSVILLE – Developing on Monday and continuing Tuesday, the Coastal Fire Centre will see its first outflow pattern of the season. This is when air flows out from the mountains via fjords and valleys towards the water.
Winds are expected to be moderate and accompanied by increased warming and drying conditions during this period. A return to typical southwesterly flow is expected Wednesday, July 16.
The Coastal Fire Centre would like to alert the public of the potential for aggressive fire behaviour and high rates of spread during this event. Early detection of wildfires and public reporting will be crucial to increase the potential for initial attack success on new wildfire starts.
To stay informed, you can visit bcwildfire.ca or download the free BC Wildfire Service public mobile app, available for Apple (iOS) and Android devices. Both include real-time news and information about prohibitions, and the current wildfire situation. The website and app also host several resources for wildfire prevention and preparedness.
Visit bcwildfire.ca for more information.

Friday, July 11, 2025 at 9:53PM The TIVFD will be training our new members and Auxiliary members on Emergency Scene Traffic Control this Saturday. We will be on Pilkey Point Road near Marina Drive with stop/slow paddles and cones, directing traffic as a single lane. The ESTC students will be taking turns directing traffic safely and efficiently. The morning part of the class is theory and written exam at the fire hall, and then we will be out on the road after a quick lunch for the practical evaluations. We hope to all be finished by 2 pm.
Please obey their traffic control directions. We want everyone to be safe. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Thank you for your patience as our members work towards their Municipal Safety Authority certification for ESTC.

Friday, July 11, 2025 at 9:49PM We are heading into a warmer and drier period. Please be careful of your High Risk Activities before 1 pm, and your permit evening campfire sparks.
From the Coastal Fire Centre:
Weather Forecast
SYNOPSIS: Most of the Coastal Fire Centre will see a return to warm and dry conditions this week. Showers and periods of rain can be expected in Haida Gwaii and the North Coast as a Pacific frontal system moves in from the Gulf of Alaska. These areas will remain relatively unstable through the week. Southern areas will continue to see gradual temperature rises and lower minimum RH values due to the position of a high-pressure ridge building Friday and Saturday. Light SW gusts can be expected through the south Friday. As the ridge flattens out Saturday the flow will be more westerly in the south with an uptick in gusts for the day.
OUTLOOK: A building offshore high-pressure ridge expands into the Fire Centre Friday, generally bringing drier and warmer conditions. Saturday through Monday temperatures will continue to rise in southern areas with dropping RH values. Precipitation will continue to remain in the north of the Centre, with potential for light showers on the Sunshine Coast Sunday. The first outflow pattern of the season will develop Monday and carry itself through into Tuesday. Moderate winds can be expected Monday accompanied with increasing drying conditions. The offshore ridge will continue to provide warm and dry conditions Tuesday, especially in southern regions. There is the potential for a mid-week low pressure system to develop with the potential for thunderstorms to develop increasing with this low. Otherwise, it will continue to be warm and dry overall.
