ThINC has several aquariums available for rehoming and would love to see them put to good use.

If you are interested in any of these aquariums, please get in touch with Maya at maya@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org. They are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

Concert at Telegraph Harbour Marina

Ontario bluegrass and roots band The Barrel Boys are coming to Thetis Island for a special concert at Telegraph Harbour Marina on Tuesday, June 16th.

Nominated for three Canadian Folk Music Awards for their 2025 album Chicken in the Window, The Barrel Boys are known for their lush vocal harmonies, flashy picking, and heartfelt original songwriting.

Canada Day ~ July 1st Sail Canada Day

Just a friendly reminder to all you Island boaters… The July 1st Sail Past is on again and only a few weeks away!  Decorate your boats with some Canadian spirit and come enjoy an afternoon on the water sailing/cruising around Penelakut and Thetis.

Mosquitoes

A reminder to the community that with the rain and upcoming warm weather there will likely be a big increase in the numbers of mosquitoes. Make sure you check the standing water on your property such as wheelbarrows, tires, buckets etc. and take appropriate action to prevent the hatch of more mosquitoes. Stay safe!

New TICA President

Thetis Island Community Association (TICA) held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 6. Ann Dickie stepped down as President, a role she has served for the past four years. Marjan Jackman, a board member since 2020, was elected President.

The members thanked Ann for her remarkable contributions to the Association throughout the expansion project and following the reopening of the hall. She will remain on the board as a director-at-large.

Fire Hazard Rating Drops

The fire hazard rating has dropped to MODERATE for our area. This means that as of Wednesday there are no restrictions for High Hazard Activities.

Outdoor Fire Bans are still in place with the exception of regulation-size evening. campfires with a permit.

Looking for Spray Foam

I need a small amount of spray foam (preferably a relatively low-expansion kind), probably about 0.15 litre/10 cubic inches once it fully expands.
If anyone has a spare can they wouldn't mind lending, please email me.

New Fire Truck Arriving Tuesday

The Thetis Island Fire Fighters and Improvement District Trustees are excited to receive our new Engine 1 this Tuesday. The brand-new truck will drive off the ferry that docks at 2:45. The TIVFD and ID members will be out on the road as greeters, and we invite the community to join us as we get a first look at our bright red frontline pumper that will serve our community for the next twenty years or more.

Manufactured in Winnipeg, Manitoba by Fort Garry Fire Trucks, it was driven from Winnipeg to Thetis by retired rural Manitoba Fire Chief Barry Carpenter, who will provide an orientation to our local firefighters at the Tuesday evening training drill.
