Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:13PM Come out and watch, come out and participate.
Gwen Hunter started this quirky, fun and unexpectedly creative intermittent community event years ago and we will be thinking of and thanking her for this opportunity to come together safely to celebrate summer and silliness.
If you are spectating, the parade route starts on Mission Road at 10:30, travels south on North Cove Road to the intersection with Pilkey Point Road, makes the left turn down the hill along the harbour head, turns right on Marina Drive by the boat launch, and loops around back to Pilkey Point Road and back up the hill to Forbes Hall. This means that you can enjoy the parade twice, coming and going! Bring a deck chair, sun hat and water bottle and cheer on the participants. SPARKY the fire dog will be looking along the parade route for kids that like candy.
If you are participating with a float or other entry, come to Mission Road at 10 a.m.and fill in anywhere between Engine 1 at the front and the Rescue Truck that will bring up the rear. We will begin moving at 10:30 sharp. Please be always cautious of traffic .
Who knows, you might be in a photo in the next Quarterly!

Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:10PM AUGUST 10th, Tuesday, 10 am to 2 pm at Forbes Hall Community Centre.
Island Health’s COVID-19 immunization team is returning to Thetis Island in August to provide first and second doses to all eligible residents age 12+.
Appointments are needed. Please ensure that you are registered in the provincial ‘Get Vaccinated’ system at www.GetVaccinated.gov.bc.ca, and book your appointment when you receive a link. Alternatively, you can call 1-833-838-2323 to reserve your spot.
If you have not received your first shot, or have not received a notice to book your second dose, and you received your first dose more than 28 days ago, please call the number listed above and tell the agent that you live in a whole community clinic location…THETIS ISLAND, AUGUST 10th CLINIC.
This is the last set of whole community clinics on Thetis. Please register…only a very limited number of drop-ins can be accommodated. Registering assures you of a first or second shot. If you are visiting or vacationing here during the clinic, you can register.

Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:09PM On my walks this week I’ve noticed two fresh cigarette butts on the side of the road, literally 6 inches from foot high tall, dry grass.
If you absolutely need to smoke on your walk, please consider taking a tin can to put your cigarette out in, not putting it out on the side of the road.
We can’t afford to take any chances with these tinder dry conditions
Please remind your out of town visitors as well
Thank you
N Duncan
Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:02PM Please, to the people who are using the community trails, roadsides and private roads and trails. I walk my two dogs most days and have found human excrement just lying there for both my shoes and the dogs to roll in! If you are caught short while walking at least either put a rock on your pooh or dig a hole and bury it. Let's keep Thetis Island a clean island.
Gloria, Piper and Cooper
Poohed out!
Note from Editor: thanks for speaking up about this! Yucky and disgusting, but true!
Also, to that someone who has been using paper towels to wipe their dog(?), if you are organized enough to take paper towels on your walk, you should be organized enough to take a bag to take them away in.
AND – if YOUR dog hasn’t been trained to “go” off trail, it is YOUR responsibility to get “it” off the trail.
Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:00PM I was wondering if there is anyone on island who does aluminum welding. I have a piece that needs to be reconnected on my boat.
I can bring it to you on a trailer for ease of work, will pay cash
Thanks,
Jeremy
