Spring Fling Clothing Exchange was a Great Event!

Thank you to all those that volunteered and made this a great event. Lots of hands make light work.

Thank you to volunteers - Helen Bird, Pat Gall, Elly Ruge, Bev Greene, Joan Snowden, Kathryn Kennedy, Carolyn Askew, Ann Erickson, Lynne DeCaire, Janna Boren and Wendy Hinsberger. So many others pitched in to make this all happen in a short time.

Lots of "new to you" went out the door.

Thank you to all those that dropped off donations to the clothing exchange, clothing, toys, bedding, towels and the amazing amount of shoes.

All items left over will be dropped off at the local Thrift Stores over the coming week.

Notice of Thetis Island Residents & Ratepayers Association (TIRRA) Annual General Meeting

TIRRA’s AGM will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:30 pm at Forbes Hall Community Centre. All Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers are invited to attend.

For those who have not renewed their 2026 membership or those who wish to join TIRRA, membership forms are available online at https://thetisisland.net/tirra/tirra-office.html and will be available at the meeting.

In addition to the President's and Treasurer's reports, come and hear what TIRRA committees have been up to in the following areas:

Communications
Solid Waste
Cemetery
Roads/Ferry
Trails

Elections by membership vote for all TIRRA Executive and Committee Chair positions will be held during the AGM.

We are looking for volunteers for the following positions: Secretary, Trails Chair and Transportation/Roads Chair. These roles provide the following support to help TIRRA operate important island functions effectively.

Secretary – Responsible for record keeping and correspondence.

Trails Chair – Is the link between the Trail Stewards, Trail maintenance and the TIRRA Board. Responsible for the Trails maintenance budget.

Transportation and Roads – Communicates any road and related safety / transportation issues on Thetis Island with the local road maintenance organization and the regional district.

These positions are voting members on the TIRRA Executive.

Clarification: May 27th COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at Forbes Hall

After being in touch with Island Health, they have provided us with a far clearer explanation of who they are expecting at the upcoming clinic in May.

While one dose of the vaccine during viral respiratory illness season in the fall and winter offers strong protection for most people, an additional spring dose is strongly recommended for people who could get seriously sick, including:

• Adults 80 years and older

• Indigenous adults 70 years and older

• Residents of long-term care homes and assisted living facilities and those awaiting placement

• People 6 months and older who have been diagnosed as clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV 1 or CEV 2)

The following people may also benefit from a spring COVID-19 booster:

• Adults 65 years and older

• Indigenous adults 55 years and older

If you are 65 years or older and registered in the Get Vaccinated system, you will receive a notification once they go out in late April, early May.

Island Health COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic – May 27th

It is that time of year again.

A spring COVID-19 vaccine clinic is coming to Thetis Island May 27th

The spring COVID vaccine campaign is focused on those at highest risk of serious illness, including people 65+, Indigenous adults 55+, and those 6 months+ with underlying medical conditions. The spring COVID booster is intended for those with underlying health conditions which puts them at greater risk.

Booking invites for those who are registered through the Get Vaccinated system will start to go out towards the end of April. 

Invites to book appointments are now being sent, by email or text, to adults 65 and older who are registered in the Get Vaccinated system.
