Kudos to Thetis Community Spirit

On Tuesday October 14 while waiting for the ferry, my husband, Bruce, went for a bike ride while my granddaughter and I walked our dog. Bruce had an unfortunate mishap involving a hill with a sharp turn and a head-first landing spot in a ditch filled with blackberry bushes.

Thetis helper #1, Richard De Marco, saw Bruce's toppled bicycle and waving arms, so he instantly provided assistance. This almost made him miss the ferry.

When hubby got back to our vehicle, Thetis helpers #2 and #3, Steve and Pam McCulloch, sprang to action with help for loading the bike onto the rack plus offers of first aid for those blackberry wounds. Pam also found me nearby and brought me up to speed with the situation.

The 3 Thetis helpers conversed with us on the ferry to ensure that we were OK to proceed (we were), and Tess De Marco even followed up with a phone call the next day. As Thetis part-timers at Morehaven for 50 years, we've known that Thetis has a unique spirit, and this is a good example of it!

Print Quarterlies in your Boxes!

The print edition of the Winter Quarterly will be in the mailboxes of those who have subscribed to them.

If you have subscribed to the print edition but you don't have a mailbox yet (i.e. your address is "General Delivery") please let Nan know at 4nanbeals@gmail.com, to arrange pick-up.

Those who are waiting for the normal mail delivery are at the mercy of Canada Post. Those copies will go out as soon as the strike is settled.

Please note that the printer reproduced, by mistake, the earlier "proof" version of the Quarterly, rather than the final, corrected version. Apart from some slight formatting changes, the only informational difference is in the school article. The old version says that they are still looking for a noontime supervisor. They have now hired a supervisor, and the corrected version says that "We encourage anyone with the necessary qualifications to consider applying to the school board for a substitute position. We are occasionally in need of a teacher, educational assistant, or noon-hour supervisor."

We hope you enjoy this issue!

Lost Item (Earring)

I was on the 8:55 ferry on Friday. I refilled my water bottle and
believe I lost an earring enroute.
A silver hoop with etching.
I would love to have it back. Maybe you found it?
