Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 3:20PM Farm Fresh Eggs
Based upon demand, we are ready to increase the supply of farm fresh, free range eggs!
In an effort to minimize trips to the Habitat Farm egg stand, only to be disappointed when sold out, we will accept requests for regular weekly pick up on assigned days.
We will meet the demand by supplementing from our friends at Lockwood Farms. These hard working folks (recent winners of BC & Yukon Young Farmers award) have had their restaurant and wholesale business drastically cut in the past week, so let's help them fill some orders.
*New protocols for Thetis Island egg production*
All eggs are collected wearing disposable gloves and wiped down with clean cloths.
Eggs are packed in new cartons. We won't be accepting used cartons in the coming weeks.
Payments can be made monthly by cheque or etransfer to avoid handling of cash and book/pen combination.
Please write to Elisabeth at info@jollityfarm.ca (or phone 250.416.6736) with your egg requests.

Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 3:19PM Ken and I are both in isolation for two weeks. We need someone to pick up a prescription at the Rexall Pharmacy for Genevieve Redman on Esplanade street right by the Chemainus Medical Centre.
I will try to pay over the phone but most of the cost will be covered.
Thanks so much
Genny Redman
Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 7:43AM TICA will negotiate with Poirier Custom Homes if the Membership votes YES on Saturday, to go with a Sole Source process to engage a new General Contractor.
In yesterday’s e-spokes TICA stated that “The Directors advise that if a majority of the Membership vote "Yes" on the Motion and single source is approved, it is their intention to negotiate with Poirier Custom Homes of Thetis Island to become the General Contractor.”
Here is more information behind TICA’s intention.
Over the past 10 days TICA has had discussions with involved parties about how having Poirier Custom Homes as General Contractor might work. It became apparent early in these conversations that there would need to be a broad range of professional assistance from the community to ensure budget conscious progress with the project.
Changes in design that would create cost savings, and other efficiencies, would need to be explored, as well as creating true projections and construction schedules. It would be more of a community project, getting insight from the public, as required, or desired.
TICA feels that the advantage, of going with the only General Contractor from Thetis capable of taking it on, is undeniable in this case. This is why, if the membership votes to proceed with a Single Source contract, TICA will be proceeding to negotiate a contract with Poirier Custom Homes.
March 28th TICA Membership Motion:
"Be it resolved that the Forbes Hall Expansion Project proceed with a single selection (Sole Source) process to engage a new general contractor.”

Monday, March 23, 2020 at 10:03AM TICA Directors announce that the Membership meeting scheduled for Saturday March 28th is CANCELLED due to COVID 19 precautions.
Instead, a DRIVE BY VOTE will be held Saturday afternoon March 28th outside the Fire Hall on Mission Road. Details as to how the DRIVE BY VOTE will be conducted will be sent out as soon as possible.
New membership applications and renewals will be received until 18:00 (6pm) on Tuesday March 24th.
The Directors advise that if a majority of the Membership vote "Yes" on the Motion and single source is approved, it is their intention to negotiate with Poirier Custom Homes of Thetis Island to become the General Contractor.

Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 11:08AM Here's a note from a friend in Montreal:
A leading German research hospital (Charité) has developed an excellent online self-evaluation tool, for anyone wondering if they just have a cold, or should seek testing. It's more thorough than anything I've seen in Canada, so far.
You can do it in English or German, and it's free.
I hope this is helpful in calming fears.
Courage!

Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 11:04AM In the midst of this pandemic when everybody should be practicing social distancing, self isolation or quarantine if possibly exposed to corona virus, some people either cannot or do not want to leave the island for groceries. This applies particularly to the more vulnerable people like those over 70, those with other health issues such as diabetes high blood pressure or heart disease, and those with compromised immune system.
A few of us are starting a group in order to pick up phone orders from the 49th parallel supermarket. In this group, anyone who joins could phone their order in, pay for it by phone with their credit card and one person (a volunteer in the group) could go over on the ferry and pick up all the orders.
Those people having an order picked up could make a donation to cover the ferry fees and maybe gas.
If anyone is interested in joining such a group please send me an email with:
Name
Lot number
Phone no. and email address
Indicate whether you can volunteer to take a turn driving.
My email is: billcobb@shaw.ca
Thank you,
Bill
Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 11:00AM My wife and daughter are stranded in Quito, Ecuador when Ecuador suddenly closed their borders and all commercial flights have now been cancelled.
The only way they and hundreds of other Canadians trapped can get home is for the Canadian government to arrange with Ecuador to allow a repatriation flight. Signing the petition below will help to motivate the government to do so.
Thank you one and all.
