Update for Thetis Island Marina & Pub

The Thetis Island Pub and Restaurant are now closed. There will be no entry into the pub and restaurant facilities nor will we be able to accommodate any washroom facilities to the public. We will be taking Take out orders from 11:00-6:30 Monday to Saturday and from 10:00-5:00 on Sunday. The menu will be limited so please call us at 250-246-3464 to see what is available.

The Liquor Store and General Store are still open to the public from 9:00 to 7:00 (Mon-Sat) and 10:00-5:30 (Sun) but we may close a little early if things are quiet. The Post Office hours will remain the same from 12:30 to 5:00 (Mon-Fri) with the Postmaster out doing deliveries and sorting from 2:15 to 3:30.

The fuel dock is also still open 9-4 (Mon-Sat) for Gas and Diesel. Propane is available 9:00 to 11:30am Mon to Fri only.

Please note that changes could occur at anytime and we will try our best to accommodate all during these troubling times. Thank you for your patience.

Please Wash Your Hands

We have been told that the most effective tool we have is washing our hands.  Learning to wash and dry your hands properly is so vitally important.

Take the time to watch the attached video, and then practice.  As a cook, there are many days when I wash my hands over 40 times.  Over a 16-hour period, that is about every 15 minutes.  Which is about the same level as a health care worker.  You may not need to do it as often, but practice does make perfect.

See video here: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/world/how-to-wash-your-hands-coronavirus.html

Also, there's an easy print notice for your main entry door (the one you most often use when you are leaving or arriving home).  Print one out, cut in half, and post at the door: Wash Hands Cards.  Makes a great reminder.

Look after yourself, and by doing that, look after others.

Open Burning Community Health Notice

A recommendation from the Cowichan Valley Community Health Coalition:

“One recommendation that came forward was to ask that communities and residents DO NOT engage in backyard burning during the open burning window as there is a direct correlation between increased physician visits and respiratory medication use as a result of decreased air quality.  Just as we are self isolating to protect others perhaps considering our impact from open burning on peoples’ health and thus the health system at this time will result in a reduction in medical needs so they can be available in a time of crisis.”

This does make sense during an acute respiratory health crisis.

Very Good Advice

Very good advice from many First Responder agencies:

Don’t change your behaviour to avoid being infected... assume you are infected and change your behaviour to avoid further transmission.

Farm Fresh Eggs & Meat

Your Thetis Island farmers have been busy bees! The greenhouse is exploding with seedlings, soil is tended, fences repaired and pond is full. We have ramped up our planting plans and are working hard to grow lots of food for you.

EGGS - $6/dozen

Please continue to collect eggs provided by our farm co-op at the Mission Rd. farm stand. Consider taking only 2 dozen per trip so others don't leave empty handed. Our chickens enjoy a mix of non-gmo and organic grains, daily fruit & veg scraps, fresh grass and forage, oyster shells and mixed seeds. In light of the resources required to produce such delicious eggs, we are no longer able to continue the 2 for $10 offer. All eggs are $6/dozen.

MEAT - We'll have your orders packaged and labelled for pickup at Jollity Farm this Saturday, March 21.

Email Elisabeth @ info@jollityfarm.ca to place an order.

SAUSAGES - $12.5/4 pack
