Forbes Hall Volunteers Update

Hello

What a great start to the assistance by volunteers on the Forbes Hall Project!

The volunteers kept Chad Kerr on his toes keeping them all busy.

As volunteer coordinator I've been asked to keep track of volunteers & their donated hours & then send a weekly report to Chad Kerr of Poirier Custom Homes. A big applause and thank you’s to all those who have taken the time to help out at Forbes Hall. The volunteers have accumulated a whopping 50 hours from Friday 17th to Friday 24th.

This coming week there aren’t any jobs for volunteers, as the site ramps up getting ready for a large concrete pour later in the week.

Please note: the Staining Project is still being organized, and will start to happen soon.  We’ll be in touch.

Thanks for everything!

Greg Gall

Jollity Farm Plant Shop News - Week of April 26 to May 2

Thank you everyone for adjusting to the new plant ordering system and being respectful of physical distancing at the farm. We are glad you can join us and visit with each other even if it's a little further away. As we are unable to mix and match flats in quite the same way as years past, we are trying to order full flats as much as possible. You can still make requests for smaller numbers and 1/2 flats, and we'll do our best to group orders together.

We appreciate your interest in garden soil. Pricing info and delivery dates are coming soon!

Impatiens will not be available again this season as there has been a massive crop failure due to downy mildew which a few growers are challenged with this year.

Tomatoes are coming soon!

You know it's the right time to plant tomatoes & other heat loving vegetables when the last snow is gone from Mt. Sicker (so we are still a week or two away). Our greenhouse is full of hundreds of beautiful tomato plants, so stay tuned for this year's list.

Here is a selection of what's available this week. The sooner our order is in, the more chance we have of getting a good selection. Larger 1 & 5 gallon perennial plants plus trees & shrubs are available by request. You ask and we'll seek. If possible, please submit your orders by midday Monday.

Does anyone have a small legal crab trap I could buy or borrow?

Staying home has become a habit I quite enjoy and I don't want to leave this island to go buy one new.

Forbes Hall Volunteers Update

Howdy friends and neighbors.
Today ends the first full week of our volunteers working with Porier Custom Homes and it has been great fun working together and watching things progress towards our common goal.
From my volunteer coordinator view point " my limited eyesight as it is" it seems that construction errors, oversights within the drawings etc, generate a few surprises that arise and need to be dealt with as things move forward. It is great to see Michel and crew figure out the various issues with the other parties engaged in the halls construction and make alternate plans. With that scenario it becomes difficult to know exactly what we can help with tomorrow but by the time we arrive yesterday's issues seen to be solved and they become today's project.
All that to say if you have some time you would like to offer, let me know I'll communicate with Chad your availability, we are most likely to be put to work at something on site.
It's great quite a number have volunteered for the staining project that is awaiting an empty stall to be done within. I will most certainly communicate its launch when it's ready.
We are currently just about finished the rebar across the front and left side. At this point, I've not discovered if the forming around the right side (kitchen library end) does or does not require more rebar.
"Us 'wabbits' sure can get da' Fudd a hoppin'!!"
"Til' Iz' hears from da Fudd" (aka Chad)
"Allz' I haz' ta' sayz iz',
What's up Doc???"
&
"Dat's all for now folks"
"Hope yaz' enjoyed da' show!!"
Greg

Thank You...

A thank you to whoever has created all the tiny works of art that are tucked away on the Fairyslipper Trail.  We look for them each time we walk and are always delighted to discover a new one.  Faces and sentiments - they are all appreciated and enjoyed.
