Looking for Artemus (a Beloved Lost Cat)

Artemus is a ginger and white Manx with a stub tail.

He was with his parents at Telegraph Harbour Marina on May 17th and has been missing since.

He jumped ship once before and survived for two months and was rescued by a hunter who returned him to his parents.

Artemus's parents had to return home to Cowichan Bay without him and are back now looking for him. Any leads would be appreciated since he is dearly missed.

Kids Don’t Float Program

The RCM-SAR Station 29 (Ladysmith) rigid hull Rescue Boat made a trip to Thetis Island to officially kick off the 2025 warm season’s KIDS DON’T FLOAT program of loaner life jackets at the Community Dock and Telegraph Harbour Marina.

Seen here at the Community Dock with Fire Chief Caldbeck and Fire Lt. Norm Kasting (who designed and installed the life jacket station last year).

Let’s have a safe summer for our kiddies. Use a life jacket on the little ones when on the beach below or just leaning over the dock railings to watch the marine life.

UPDATE: Post Office Information Redux (Slow Down)

Canada Post is apparently going on a slow-down and rotating strike process.

What this means for us is that mail will be coming through but on a lower volume and slower basis. Some mail came on Friday, May 23 and will be sorted into boxes Saturday, May 24.

The PO will be open for business at regular hours until otherwise informed.

Note: Parcel post (Amazon et al) will continue, but delivery may be slower depending on where the slow-downs occur.

Forbes Hall Spring Clean Up Day: Saturday, May 24th 9:30 am

Join us this Saturday to get the Hall and grounds ready for both the Celebration Event and for summer!

Work starts at 9:30, it’s okay if you come a bit later.

A light lunch has been planned to thank the wonderful volunteers who step up to help.

Here’s an equipment list that may be helpful: gloves, secateurs, shovels, trowels, wheelbarrows (we have 1, a couple more would be great), rakes, an extra weed eater and appropriate safety gear.

Saturday’s Job List:

  • Weeding and Gardening: lots of small areas to be worked on.
  • Sports Court perimeter.
  • Take down screens, wipe clean, replace after windows are done.
  • Window Washing: wash windows inside and out. All equipment and training will be provided.
  • Wiping down of all windowsills, inside and out.
  • Beverage Station: clean all drawers, cupboards and shelves. Sort items when restocking.
  • Plateau area by parking: weed-eat area.

We are looking forward to seeing an eager team!

See you Saturday.

Thanks,

TICA Board
