Thetis Island Vol. Fire Dept.

Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 7:55AM Wildfire preparedness and response are at their best when we all play our part. The Thetis Island Fire Dept, along with its auxiliaries, are ready to do our part this wildfire season. By completing FireSmart tasks around your property, you’re doing your part to reduce the risks surrounding your home and help strengthen your community’s resilience. Every step, no matter how small, can be the difference when it’s needed most.
While we remain in a Moderate Fire Hazard Rating, now is a good time to trim the long grass throughout your property and mow your lawn to a height of less than 10cm.
Move stored combustibles like firewood, scrap lumber, propane tanks at least 10 metres from your house.
Safely clear debris off your roof and clean out your gutters. Combustible debris such as leaves and branches burn easily when embers come in contact.
