Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 4:10PM We have one native lizard here; the alligator lizard. (We also have several salamander species, including the Rough Skinned Newt).
But we need to know if the invasive European Wall Lizard from central Italy has made it to Thetis. Keep your eyes out for them and report any sightings.

Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 3:58PM I wasn’t able to leave Thetis last week to pick up a local newspaper with the Cowichan Valley fire departments spread in it for Fire Prevention Week.
If you have a paper with our TIVFD photo in it and you aren’t wrapping fish, we would appreciate the copy.
Just leave it in the mail drop box for us.

Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 3:57PM Due to the scheduled power outage on Thursday October 18th, we will be closed until the power comes back on.
Once the power comes on we will resume normal hours with the fuel dock closing at 6pm, kitchen closing at 7pm and pub & liquor store closing at 8pm.

Drop in at Forbes Hall between 1:30 and 3:30 pm to view maps and other materials and provide your comments to Nuala Murphy from the Islands Trust Conservancy.
Then stay on for the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy Annual General Meeting at 4 p.m.

Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:44AM We have managed to have the Flu Shot Clinic come to Thetis again this year, despite VIHA phasing out clinics and leaving people to seek out flu shots individually from pharmacies.
The Thetis Island Flu Shot Clinic will be held on October 31st, Wednesday, at the community centre, starting at 11:15. The clinic will be running concurrently with Soups-On which starts at 11:30, so you have the opportunity to have a great $5 lunch, visit with neighbours, and get your free flu shot all on the same day. The flu shot clinic ends at 12:50 pm. In order that the VIHA nurses can get back to the ferry.
They will bring the “flu mist” for children (rather than a shot) if you let chief11@telus.net know ahead if your kids require that.
Please support this Flu Shot Clinic on the 31st. We feel there is a need for it in our community instead of having to inconveniently travel elsewhere. And who can say no to a great bowl of soup!
