What does Forbes Hall mean to me?
Forbes Hall is our islands gathering place, a place that is open to everyone.
The hall provides many ways for islanders to participate and the activities reflect the interests of our diverse community. The open policy at Forbes Hall encourages creativity participation and generosity. Islanders can simply book the hall, plan an event, organize an activity, share a skill or lead a discussion. You don’t have to wait for a specific program to begin, you can start one yourself.
I loved the neighbour to neighbour series where anyone could offer to share something they thought was interesting or they were good at – so may different people, activities and ideas were shared with this series, it expanded our knowledge and we ended up knowing our community & one another even better.
I love that Forbes Hall has so much history; a remarkable number and variety of events have taken place there over the years, dinners, concerts, fundraisers, art auctions, weekly Soups On, exercise classes, private family events such as engagement parties, and yes, memorials (my parents included).
Forbes Hall is a place where you can meet your friends, meet new friends, engage in new activities, visit the library, and share a laugh.
Forbes Hall provides the space for many different island groups to meet, discuss, plan and as a result, the entire community benefits.
Our lives are all enriched by Forbes Hall.
