Community Letters

I see Thetis as such a special place isolated from so much of the evil that I can daily read of all about me, and working together in community allows me opportunity to see, appreciate, and encourage the good gifts, skills and abilities others have been given, ohhh may good prevail.

I enjoy being involved in our community because I believe in community. That one that is willing to work together will draw together as it focuses on a common goal rather than focusing on one's own personal agenda(s).

I believe that a community that works together grows stronger together and stays much longer together. Being involved with each other also gives us opportunity to see that others also have needs and that some things that seem like simple easy tasks from our perspective can be overwhelming tasks for others and vice versa, so when we chose to grow together in community our burdensome tasks are minimized along with others.

Thus a place to have things like "Soups On", where we can get out of our little corner of the woods and share our triumphs, joys n sorrows, and Community Christmases where we can lighten each other spirits boldly singing, Five Golden Rings and Praise to the King, and FUNraisers where we can kick up our heels in support of various great causes is a very needed common place where community can begin. I believe God loves a great party where His children acknowledge Him as the giver of all good things.

As we work together on this project, may we each choose to see and encourage each other's gifts, strengths, skills and abilities rather than others respective short comings and weaknesses.

Live Music at the Thetis Island Pub: June-July 2019

Sat June 22

Lawson Kelly & Longwood Brewery Tap Takeover

Based in the Cowichan Valley, the west coast duo Lawson Kelly began early 2012 carving out the sound that they would eventually be recognized for.  It a bit of outlaw country, old time bluegrass, upbeat Celtic, without ever leaving the west coast.  You can expect a lively entertaining set condensing a wide variety of genres, and musical eras into swell-know covers and original music.

Saturday July 6

Ornery - Vancouver/Gulf Islands

Somber yet steady, bitter yet loving, vengeful yet.... nope just vengeful. Ornery tells tales of struggle, survival, support, and self-improvement in a bitter country style that is cheesy enough to be familiar, yet. rugged enough to be new and exciting.

Wed July 10

Nice Verdes have been performing since first meeting in 2003. They have extensively toured Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Europe and Guatemala. Their music is refreshing, uplifting and sunny original indie world. They have always been drawn to collaborating with artists from all countries and they enjoy most of all the parties and festivals that celebrate a strong sense of community and equality in diversity.

Fri July 26

Robbie Hancock Duo

Robbie's warm, husky voice evokes a long warm evening by a fireside. Time slows down as he paints lyric pictures of love lost and found again. There's a hint of indie folk, singer/songwriter in his acoustic tracks and memorable refrain lines. Robbie is an artist finding his way through life and love, sharing his journey in his songs.

Sat July 27

Quadra Sound Rock Band

This Vancouver Island-based band combines elements of high-impact modern rock a la kings of Leon and Rival Sons, with their roots deeply invested into classic bands such as The Beatles. Quadra Sound has created arguably one of the more unique sounds to come in recent times, captivating an audience of all ages. This is only complimented by their electrifying high-energy live performance.

Community Letters

When I first arrived on Thetis 16 years ago by boat, I walked over to the hall on a Sunday. There was tea and a very nice group of people. I have been going there ever since. The hall has been a place for meeting and fun activities for me, and hope it will for years to come.

From the "Library"

I am looking for the latest Louise Penny book, Kingdom Of The Blind.  The card is not in my borrower's box and I have a patron looking to read the book.

I have many Louise Penny, Elly Griffiths and Alan Bradley books at my house.

If you would like to borrow any of them, let me know.

Danby Countertop Dishwasher For Sale

I have a Danby countertop dishwasher for sale.

Stainless steel inside.

It works amazingly well for something so small!

It fits a fair amount of dishes and connects to your kitchen tap.  Comes with all attachments needed.

Has a cosmetic dent on the top (I bought it that way) but doesn’t impact its performance.

$120
