Quarterly Deadline

The next issue of the Quarterly is looming, and as February is a short month, the deadline will be a bit early - Monday February 3rd - to get it out for the beginning of March.  

If you have a story or information that won't be ready until later in February, let us know and we'll try to accommodate it.  

If you have an idea for a story or item of interest, or an ad or changes to your ad, let us know.  

As usual, please try to send any pictures at the highest resolution you have.  

Send everything to quarterly@thetisisland.net, and if we don't reply within a day or two, call Veronica at 250 246 1509 (just in case there's a glitch in the email - it's been known to happen!)

Forbes Hall Expansion Notice

The Information meeting that was proposed for Saturday, January 18th, has been postponed until early February.

This is due to proceeding with a redesign of the Assembly Hall.  

After several members stepped up to assist with the project following both the November 16th, and December 8th meetings, ideas for the redesign came forward. 

This will create significant cost reductions. We will share the new design/plan with the community as soon as it is completed.

As well, we want to share with you a newly developed timetable/schedule for the project which is not yet complete, due to the above. 

It only makes sense to postpone to a later date to accommodate these new developments.

A fuller, general update regarding the project will be sent out early next week.

We thank you for your patience as the plan gets redeveloped.

Looking for Willow Cuttings

To start our constructed septic wetland I am looking for Pacific Willow cuttings  - the fast growing willow kind where the fresh shoots have yellowish bark. And oelmeria (Indian Plum)cuttings. 

If anyone can share some please let me know. I would cut it myself.

Marine and Small Engine Repairs

As many of you know I’ve been working on getting my Marine Mechanical Technician certification. I've just returned from my level 1 training at BCIT and I’ve got some time before going back to my apprentice position in Duncan.  

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a neighbour allow me to setup a workshop on their property to work on various projects. I expect I’ll have some free time if there are things in need of maintenance and repair. I also have my cargo trailer workshop which I can use to come to you if required.

Lawrence Valley Loop Trail

We held a small work party Thursday to put down breeze blocks in the wettest sections on the trail.  

Please note that you will need boots for the lowest section at this time and common sense dictates that you take care on the boardwalk portions when it is wet or frosty.  

And thank you to Ron Bannister for providing the blocks and to Bill Dickie for transporting them to where they were needed.  

We still need more blocks and if you have some to donate, we would be grateful.
