More Sadness ~ Pilkey Point this Morning

photo courtesy of Doug Fenton
Just Plain Sad

Got home this evening and walked down to the end of Pilkey Point. Saddened to see a smashed booze bottle and garbage. Even sadder to realize that it had been there all day and nobody did anything. Went back to clean it up and, sure enough, more people swimming at the point and glass and garbage untouched. Just plain sad.

It is now at Cedar Beach. Call Andy or Virginia 250-246-9770 to retrieve.
A Love Letter to the Residents of Thetis

A warm and resounding Thanks to all of the amazing individuals that welcomed me with open arms during my wwoofing stay on Thetis Island. The generosity of your community has been beautifully humbling and I'm ever so grateful. I'll carry this experience safely in my heart and will darken your doorways again someday soon.
It's been a pleasure. Sending good vibes to you all! I'll catch you on the flip side!
Ta ta!

Report from ACThetis (Anchorage Concerns Thetis)

ACThetis (Anchorage Concerns Thetis) Aug 13, 2018 Meeting was held at the Forbes Hall, Thetis Island.
The highlights of this meeting are:
Interim Protocol – at approx. 1700h, two hours prior to the meeting, TC released a statement that they were extending the IP for another 12 months. This was done without consultation of any of the First Nation partners or SH that we are networked with/to; this does not bode well for the OPP public consultation (or lack thereof) process;
Petition signing has been approx. 130 signatures for Fed and provincial petitions. if you haven’t signed please contact the undersigned or any other ACT member you know (cut-off date Sept 15, 2018);
Local Media release pending, and ACT is searching for anyone with a link, referral or knowledge of a provincial or federal level media contact who would work with ACT to get these serious issues published at a larger scale;
Environmental Law (Cnd and/or Indigenous) - ACT is committed to doing more research and to working within their growing network (within and outside of their alliance) to find a way to hold our governments accountable.
Next Meeting: Oct 15, 2018

How to Check Your Well-water Height

Here is a simple way to check your well water column height.:
Several people have said they have no idea how much water is in their well. This is one way to figure it out and keep track:

REALLY?????? Cigarette Butts??????

Cigarette butts have been found on the top of Burchell Hill, at the end of Pilkey Point, below Tom and Gloria’s house near their fire wood stacks, on my private driveway in the bush, in front of Nan’s “Nugget” at Pot of Gold, along Mission Road near the Community Centre driveways, and in the boat launch area, as well as the entrance to and on the community dock.
It goes without saying that there are many butts again along the ferry line-up next to or in the dry grass.
Surely this can’t all be from ignorant visitors who don’t know what a Provincial State of Emergency is!
Please give a friendly word of encouragement to smokers to put their butts in their pockets.
