New Toonie
Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 7:18AM Most of you will know of the late Haida artist Bill Reid (1920-1998), who maintained a residence on Thetis Island and often visited here.
In honour of the 100th anniversary of his birth, today the Canadian Mint launched a new version of the Toonie featuring a Xhuwaji Haida Grizzly Bear design painted by Reid in 1988.
CBC reports that 3 million coins will be produced, so you may soon see one in your change.
