Thetis Island Improvement District By-Election: September 29th.

The Thetis Island Improvement District will hold a Special Meeting on Saturday September 29th at 10 AM at Forbes Hall, Thetis Island. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a by-election to elect a trustee to replace Dick Phelps. Sadly, Dick passed away in August. 

Bill Dickie has agreed to stand for election. He will be asked to complete Dick's term as trustee, which ends in April 2019. 

If anyone would like to run for this trustee position, please send an email, with an expression of interest, to Anne-Marie Koeppen, Administrative Officer: gotoannemarie@hotmail.com no later than Wednesday September 26, 2018, 5PM.

Persons wishing to put their name forward must meet the eligibility criteria under Section 684 of the Local Government Act, which is:

a) Canadian citizen,

b) 18 years of age or older

c) entitled to be a registered as a voter under the Election Act, and

d) be a property owner on Thetis Island

Campfires ~ TIVFD

Regulation-sized campfires (less than 18’’x18’) with permits and with water and shovel at site will be allowed commencing SATURDAY September 15th.  Please apply for the Permit on-line at thetisislandfire.ca and select FIRE PERMITS from the left hand side menu. 

Watch your sparks. It is still very dry in places.

NO YARD WASTE BURNING PERMITTED AT THIS TIME.

Soup's On Volunteers Meeting

The first "Soup's On" of the 2018/19 season will take place on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 and the committee members are busy working on another good season.

We need more help so if you would like to get involved in a very popular community activity please plan to attend our start up meeting for cooks, team leaders and kitchen helpers on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th, 9.30 am in Forbes Hall. This is an important time to get new information and select your preferred dates and team members. If you have recently upgraded your Foodsafe certification please bring a copy of your new certificate for the office record. 

This meeting will be followed by a kitchen protocol information meeting approximately 10.30 a.m. which will be for the benefit of  all community kitchen users regardless of   which group they will be using the kitchen for e.g. private catering, TICA, TICF, TIFD etc.

Refreshments will be available.
