Toxic Plant ~ Spurge Laurel

This is Yard and garden clean-up time and as you go about eliminating invasive species such as scotch broom and unwanted blackberries, be very careful when you pull or cut daphne/spurge laurel.  All plant parts are toxic and can cause blisters and rash if you don't use gloves.  But there is also evidence that the Smoke from burning this plant is also toxic, so be aware of where your smoke is going if you include this in your burn pile.  Use the Venting Index - burn only when the Index says YES (GOOD) so that the toxic gasses rise rather than spread.

Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Thetis Island

Improvement District will be held

• at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018
• at Forbes Community Hall, Thetis Island, BC

This public meeting is to receive the audited financial statements for 2017, to report on the operations of the Fire Department, the Improvement District, and whatever other items of business may be raised.

There will be a nomination and an election to fill three (3) trustee positions. All three trustees whose term is up have agreed to stand for another term. They are; Tom Anderson, Andy Lamb and Keith Rush.

There will be a vote to borrow up to $800,000 over a 25-year term at current interest rates for  renovations and repairs of the Central Fire Hall.

Please plan on attending the Thetis Island Improvement District AGM. Light refreshments will be served.
