Friends of Furries ~ Fawn Sightings

We have fawns already being born on the Island. Friends of Furries has had a report of a fawn without its mother. Please know that mothers do not always stay with the fawns. They hide their babies in a secure location while foraging. If you come upon a fawn that looks "lost" please do not approach or disturb it, or attempt to feed it. Make sure your dog is leashed and give the area a wide berth to allow nature to takes its course. Mom will likely be back within a few hours.
This early in the season they will be newly born, very young, awkward looking and likely unsteady on their feet. Touching the fawn or attempting to interfere will bring human scent to the area and increase the chances of the baby being abandoned.
