A Story Worthe Reading from Jollity Farm

Most of you know us by now. Jollity Farm was created from a desire to produce healthy food on Thetis, and we've been growing for over 15 years! We have appreciated you taking this journey with us and without you, none of this would be possible. We feel the same way about the expansion to the Jollity Community Farm Shop in Chemainus. With this new location we've been able to create ten jobs, secure the farm's future of greater production and create countless opportunities for other local growers and food makers.

As you've probably witnessed we've been working hard for the past two years on the cafe/shop expansion in Chemainus—creating more gathering space for community to learn and share together (think classes and workshops), enjoy music, food and drink and provide local wares.

Ready for the exciting plot twist?

Things have taken an interesting turn recently with our landlord informing us he plans to put the building up for sale. We're sure you can understand the precarious feeling this creates for our business and for the four residential tenants who share the building.

We are in it for the long haul and have many dreams for this space. We just can't secure it by ourselves at this time.

The numbers show that the whole building operates at a profit and real estate has proven to be a great investment especially in neighborhoods with some room for growth.

We don't often do things the "usual" way and are always thinking outside the box for creative solutions. Would you like to join us? Perhaps an investment in real estate interests you and a few of us could pool our resources and buy it together. Or maybe you have other ideas, e.g. to be a benevolent landlord/rent-to-own/co-operative??

We have a document with more facts and figures available to share upon request. We'd love to hear from you even if you'd like to discuss possibilities, or have ideas or proposals.

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider.

This could be fun!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizen can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead
