Fire Hazard Risk Climbed

The Fire Hazard Class readings at the nearby fire weather stations have gone from Moderate to High and Extreme. We have, as of Monday noon, gone to HIGH again. This means that on Tuesday all high hazard activities (milling, mowing, etc.) must cease by 1 pm and a two-hour fire watch posted.

If all stations report EXTREME readings over the next few days, we will be shutting down all High Hazard Activities immediately.

Campfire permits are still in effect until July 7th. After July 7th it will be a hard stop for solid fuel campfires here on Thetis Island and you will have to dust off your propane campfires appliances for the duration of the summer.

Thank you for your cooperation. We need a lot more rain to change the situation.

Fire Chief J. Caldbeck
Thetis Island Vol. Fire Dept.
