The rugs at our school are in need of a cleaning but we have been on a wait list with the School District for a few months now.
If anyone has a carpet cleaner and is willing to lend it to Janitor Janice for this purpose, we would be most grateful! Or if anyone who is planning to rent one in the near future would consider letting the school get in on the rental, that would be a nice option.
We only have 2 rugs to clean. Please contact Kelly Bannister if you can help: kelly_bannister@telus.net
Here are a few of the new titles at your library.

37 First Nations and the Islands: How we got to where we are
Mark your Calendar for next weeks Soup's On, Wednesday, March 8.
Fiona XE_T_XÁ_T_TEN MacRaild, M.P.A.Senior Intergovernmental Policy Advisor with the Islands Trust will be joining us for Soup's On.
Fiona was hired last year at the Islands Trust to assist us with Marine and First Nations Issues.
She has developed a presentation called */"37 First Nations and the Islands: How we got to where we are"./*
She presented this at Island Trust Council last year and we have subsequently asked her take it to our communities as part of Trust Council's commitment to foster relationship building and understanding with First Nations.
I hope that you will be able to join us. Soup's On of course begins at the usual time of 11:30. The presentation will begin at 12:30 and will be about an hour with time for a Q&A
If you can not arrive for soup until 12:30, please do not hesitate to come. We expect that some will still be wanting to quietly enjoy their lunch during the presentation.
Again I hope you can join us and welcome Fiona to our Island for what is an interesting and enlightening presentation.
Thank you Soup's On cooks for helping facilitate this event.

This week’s menu is:
Salad & Biscuits
Marinated & Baked Chicken
Mushroom Rice Pilaf
Roasted Glazed Carrots
Pineapple Cake
Limited orders are being taken now for Takeout Dinners for Monday, March 6th
Each take-out will have two servings, and the cost is $30 per take out, and all will be sold by pre-order on a first come, first serve basis.
Pick up will be available from 4:30-5:00PM at Forbes Hall. All will be pre-packaged.
Note: There are two more dinners planned, Monday March 13th, and Monday March 20th.
Please call Ann Dickie 250-246-4079 or Don Sinclair 250-246-4291 to pre-order your dinner.
Whenever eSPOKES seems to disappear, please check your Spam folder and mark eSPOKES as as not spam. For some mysterious reason, our emails seem to slip into Spam folders at random. The mailing system that manages the emailing for us has to be very quick to erase accounts that cause any problems as they handle many mailings for small organizations like ours. If this is the reason for your problems, they will not allow us to reinstate your membership; you must do it yourself.

The Board Members of TICA and TIRRA send thanks to all of you who have already paid 2017 Membership Dues! Your support is certainly appreciated.
TICA – Thetis Island Community Association
– has the mission of maintaining the Forbes Community Hall, WiFi, Library, sports court and the grounds for the use of Islanders. TICA membership includes copies of the popular Quarterly Magazine. At this time TICA is planning an expansion since the site is so well used and more space is definitely needed. TICA welcomes your suggestions!
TIRRA – Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers Association
– works diligently to staff and support numerous community functions and interests. These include the expansion of the Community Trail, the BC Ferry Advisory Committee, St. Margaret’s Cemetery, TIPC (Thetis Island Port Commission), and The Mosquito Squad. The Transportation Committee is responsible for roads and road safety, working closely with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure MOTI; Mainroad Contracting & The Island Trust. Also, TIRRA works with the Committee that administers the Solid Waste and Recycling Services which is helped out by many great Island volunteers. (Your property taxes financially support the operation of the Trash/Recycle Site. TIRRA fees do not.)
TICA and TIRRA information available at http://thetisisland.net/community2006.htm
