ThINC Youth Community Night ~ April 27th

ThINC Youth is holding a community information night on Friday April 27 from 4:30-6:00. The night will focus on informing and involving the community in the project. The youth speakers will talk about how the project came to be, what they have been doing and their vision for the summer. There will be a video and poster presentation and card fundraiser samples will be displayed and orders may be placed at the event. The members of ThINC Youth look forward to seeing you there! Pollinator Gardening

Come and join us at the Nature House (The Portal) on Sunday April 22, 1pm. We will be planting a garden specifically designed with native bees in mind. We will also be learning more about the habitat needs of our local bees. All are welcome. Bring your working gloves and some planting tools.

Earth Day Celebrations

Come and join ThINC on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday April 22 to celebrate Earth Day, the arrival of spring, and Fairyslipper Forest, Thetis Island's new nature reserve on Burchell Hill. Everyone is welcome. 

Saturday April 21

2 pm Walk to see the Fairyslipper orchids on Burchell Hill : Meet at Forbes Hall, dress for the weather (sunshine of course!) Special Guest: Crystal Oberg from the Islands Trust Fund

5 pm Pot luck dinner at Forbes Hall. Bring a dish to share.

7 pm  Family Dance at Forbes Hall with the Mt Benson Ceili Band and caller Doug Paterson. All ages. Bring a friend.  Everyone dances with everyone. Nature-themed costumes optional. PS.This is not a square dance but a wonderful mix of dances from all over the world. 

Sunday April 22

1 pm Pollinator Garden Planting. Meet at the Nature House at The Portal. Bring work gloves.

7 pm  Sounds of Springtime Camerata Strings Orchestra Concert Fundraiser for Nature, Sylvan United Church, 985 Shawnigan Lake-Mill Bay Rd. $15 advance/$20 at the door, kids under 12 free. Tickets available on Eventbrite.

Wanted to Buy, Rent, or Lease

3 months ago I moved here with my little 2 yr old girl. We desired a community that we could thrive in, one that still believed that it takes a community to raise a child. You have become that precious community for us and this island has been able to meet the unique needs of my little girl like no other place can. This is our home, our safe place.

As most every one knows there is a housing crisis and it is not just on Thetis, it is everywhere. Our current rental ends soon.

I am very serious about purchasing a home. Does anyone have something they may consider selling..... If you are not sure that what you have will work, email me and ask some questions. 

As a mature single parent I am looking at the more affordable home.  However, I have a substantial downpayment, excellent credit and I am willing to look at creative solutions but can also do a traditional purchase.

I am also open to either a short term rental or a year lease. I am an excellent renter, and both of us are pleasant, happy people.

Yes, I am absolutely working with the wonderful Deb Wilson, but there is only so much magic in her wand. 

Asking for help, especially when in a new community is not easy, but my situation has become serious enough that I must put my pride aside, because pride doesn't keep the wind out or the rain off.

Wanted ~ Mirrors to Borrow

Looking for full-length mirrors for our Fashion Show. Does anyone have a mirror we could borrow? Willing to pick-up and return. Reminder that this Sunday April 22 is the deadline for donating clothes. Speaking of clothing we have all sizes for all types of women as well as shoes, purses and jewellery. Not only have the ladies on Thetis kindly donated but we have had a huge number of women from off island donate as well. So join us for a evening of shopping, fashion show and 1 glass of wine (non-alcoholic will be available) and cheese all for only $10.00. Extra wine will be available for $5.00 glass.
