Hall Rental Fees

It has long been TICA’s practice to encourage the use of Forbes Community Hall for events that are open free-of-charge to the whole community.   Many Thetis Islanders participate in these activities and our community is strengthened.

There has been some confusion surrounding events that charge an admission.   In response to requests from the community, TICA will now accept hall bookings that are open to the whole community and that encourage community participation, health and well-being.   Sponsors of such bookings will be able to charge fees of their choosing.  TICA’s  rental fee will be waived based on the sponsor’s written explanation of their program’s benefit to the community.

The Thetis Island Community Association is currently raising funds to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of our Community Centre.   Donations can be sent to TICA, PO Box 14-0.  A tax receipt will be sent for all donations over $25.

5th Wheel ~ Mover Wanted

I am looking for somebody who has a truck with a 5th wheel hook-up capable of moving my 34' trailer about 75 feet from its present location.  The move is simply a straight-line push back.  A 4x4 truck would be ideal as there is a hill to climb to get to said trailer.

The proposed dates for this move are Oct 6 or 7th.  Naturally you would be compensated for what should be a fairly easy move.

Please contact Jim Senetza at 403-803-9692 or jsenetza@telusplanet.net

jollity FARM ~ Open Saturday & Sunday ~ 10am-1pm

What's fresh at jollityFARM?

Non-gmo Corn + Cucumber Compost Toss

Saturday, Sept. 2 10am - 1pm

Back by popular demand! Non-gmo corn from Silver Rill Farm on the Saanich Peninsula.

Super Sweet Peaches & Cream and Super Sweet Yellow.

You may pre-order via email - info@jollityfarm.ca

Bitter cucumbers!

As we struggled through a bitter field cuke at dinner yesterday, we realize some of you may have as well! Our apologies if you got a bitter cucumber last week. Seems this variety of field cuke does not like this heat. Let's put some fun into this harvest toss with the kids. Kids.... come on up and play "toss the bitter cucumber" and win an ear of corn.

Monday's Fire Call

The small bush fire ignited by a spark on Monday afternoon was quickly dealt with by on-scene personnel and the TIVFD. It is a good reminder though of how quickly and explosively a fire can catch and spread in these conditions. We appear to have more days of EXTREME Fire Hazard ahead of us.

Please report all smoke concerns to 911 and have a safe and hopefully cooler Labour Day Weekend.

Thank you for your continued fire safety vigilance.
