TIVFD Retirements

The TIVFD is sad to announce the retirements of Fire Captain Tegan Luckham and Fire Fighter Regan Bueckert from the Department on Sept. 1st. Tegan is moving to the Fraser Valley to continue her post secondary education, and Regan and his wife are moving to Alberta. We wish them well in their new communities and thank them for their selfless volunteer service to Thetis Island as fire fighters and First Responders. We will miss them.

Campfire Ban Still in Effect

Despite the lifting of the campfire ban north of Courtenay on Provincial lands on Tuesday, the southern half of Vancouver Island remains dangerously dry, as evidenced by the Mill Bay wildfire last Thursday and the Paldi fire on This past weekend. There is still a complete open fire ban on Thetis Island. We will need several successive days of heavy rain to lower the risk from EXTREME Hazard. Please report any smoke columns and continue to be vigilant.

Thank you.

2016 Christmas Bazaar

December 10 ~ 10am - 2pm

We have booked the hall for the Christmas Bazaar but need your help to make this fun day happen. If you would like to have a table at the Christmas Bazaar we ask that you also help set-up, take-down and clean-up. If we do not enough helpers this year the day will have to be cancelled.

So if you interested in being a part of the Christmas Bazaar you can book a table ( first come first serve) by contacting Gloria @ 250 246 3192 or quackf@telus.net. These tables go fast so get your reservation in soon! Thanks Gloria, Helen and Dee

Martin & Anya ~ Moving On

After a wonderful 2 years plus of being residents on Thetis Island, we are moving to a new abode on neighbouring Salt Spring Island in September. This sceptred isle, this other Eden, this Demi paradise, this precious stone set in a silver sea, that has served as our home will be sorely missed along with her wonderful residents with whom we have made many true friends. We take with us to Salt Spring many happy memories of all that has happened in our short sojourn. Andy and Gerry's perfectly orchestrated Burns Night, the eclectic evenings for the children of Tanzania, Soups On, Moonrise over Clam Bay, sunset over Pilkey Point, knitting classes, Scottish dancing, Ann & Donna's arguably world class cinnamon buns, the Lawrence Trail, sitting outside Forbes Hall to catch the WiFi, Simone and Peter's talent night for Christmas, prima comedienne Gloria, laureate Michelle, the 'flu vaccination extravaganzas, evocative and sensual dancing from Charlotte and her dynamic entourage, 4am live TV coverage at Chris's, of Liverpool Football Club.......the list is quite frankly endless!

However, we have every intention to continue our association with the island and serve our patients in the future. Our wish is to return on most Wednesdays. Please use our cell number 250 436 0045 to keep in touch as well as the email address erskine2814@outlook.com
