Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:20PM 4-8 pm at the Community Centre and Grounds
The 2017 Family Fun Day is a 4-hr event with a DJ and dancing in the tennis courts, games & activities for all ages, face painting, a balloon sale with a prize in every balloon and a whole lotta fun open to the entire community.
Highlights of the afternoon will be the Silent Pie Auction and the Dunk Tank that will be $5 a ball or 3 for $10. Who would you like to see get dunked? :D
There will be BBQ'd hamburgers & hotdogs with chips, juice and a ice cream bar for $10 & $8. Guest are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Chemainus Food Bank.
This amazing event is completely organized by volunteers and jointly hosted by the Thetis Island Community Association and Thetis Island Community Fund. 100% of the net proceeds will support both of these organizations.
TICA maintains our community center and grounds so that all islanders may freely participate in social, fitness and educational activities offered at Forbes Hall. TICF supports the community in the areas of education, health care and senior’s support.
Looking forward to seeing you!!

Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:15PM Anchorages Concern Thetis, a concerned group of Thetis Islanders, is holding a public meeting on Tuesday August 8th at 1:00 pm to discuss the increase of freighters anchored beside our island. The upcoming hearings for the Oceans Protection Plan give the opportunity for our island input into where freighters should and should not anchor while waiting to enter the Port of Vancouver.
We will review how and why freighters anchor off Thetis and discuss opportunities to move these anchorages away from Trincomali Channel.
The social and environmental impacts of these large freighters are a concern for all of us. While the folks on the east water side of the island bear the brunt of all night generator noise and ship lights, the impact to the sea bed environment and it's effect on fish habitats should concern us all. Every boater in the world famous Trincomali Channel needs to be concerned about the safety impact of these behemoths on sailboats, kayakers, and canoeists. If you like catching rockfish you will want to be at the meeting.
We urge everyone who lives on, owns property on, or is just visiting Thetis Island to come out for what promises to be a lively and informative presentation. Find out what you can do to help.

Hello Thetis Islanders!
Myself (45) and my two children (10/12) are looking for a serious lifestyle change. We currently live in Parksville, and after experiencing a wonderful mini vacation on Thetis, and hearing from our friends that live there full time how much they enjoy it, would like to spend the next school year and perhaps beyond, living on this gorgeous island. I am a painter by trade, and can also do minor repairs, basic carpentry, and other work such as yard maintenance, etc.. I am not afraid to try my hand at anything to bring in an income or possibly trade for accommodation, such as house sitting or a place to park an RV for the next school year. We are quiet and responsible and would treat your property with the utmost respect. I can provide personal references attesting to this and look forward to hearing about any proposals to help make this dream become a reality. I do own a 3 bed/1.5 townhome in downtown Parksville if anyone wants to do a home swap.
Thank you in advance,
Deborah Shorthouse

Monday, August 7, 2017 at 12:33PM Our granddaughter will be visiting us next week for a few days. Because Rowena is a special needs child and terrified of dogs we need to farm out our "pup" while she stays with us. Mixie is older and cannot handle large, bouncy dogs but otherwise is little trouble. If you would enjoy the company of a happy, waggily tailed dog for a few days please contact me at innessmc@telus.net
Thanks in advance,
Cecilia
