Short-term Volunteer Needed @ Forbes Hall Community Centre

Could this be you?

Our regular volunteer who maintains the grass areas at the Hall is going to be on holiday for most of May and part of June.

TICA is looking for a volunteer to do this work during this time period.

TICA now has an electric lawn mower and trimmer that can be used for this purpose. Perhaps once or twice would be sufficient. Orientation to the equipment will be provided.

There will be a Spring Cleanup at the hall on May 24th, so that could be an excellent time to do this lawn care.

TIRRA Annual General Meeting, Saturday: May 24 at 2pm

The official notification for the TIRRA Annual General Meeting went out by email on Saturday to all landowners and members from 2024. As a reminder - this is an incredibly important meeting for the future of TIRRA - which is to say, the future of ANY garbage management on Thetis, any input on the state and maintenance of our roads, the trails system, the cemetery, the phone book, espokes - the list goes on. The work is not onerous, but it does need to be done. Please consider standing for one of the roles in the executive board ranks.

Cemetery Clean Up May 31st

On Saturday May 31st from 10-3, St. Margaret’s Cemetery Committee will be having its annual maintenance day. The cemetery is a vault of island history and is the permanent home for many of our forebears. From tidying up headstones, to general landscaping there will be a range of projects to suit everyone's interests and abilities. We welcome all Islanders.

Please plan to come by and join us, we encourage everyone to join. If possible, please bring small garden tools for general landscaping and/or scrub brushes and water pails to clean grave markers. We would encourage you to contribute to the picnic lunch, where we will remember and celebrate the lives that came before us.
