Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 10:11AM Dear Thetis neighbours,
I am canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, as part of a team of 100,000 volunteers across Canada. We are knocking on doors and reaching out to friends and family, to raise funds for research and share the new Signs of Stroke Campaign.
FAST: Learn the Signs of Stroke:
F - FACE - is it drooping?
A - ARMS - can you raise both?
S - SPEECH - is it slurred or jumbled?
T - TIME - to call 911 right away.
Act FAST because the quicker you act, the more of the person you save. Knowing these signs may save the life of someone you know.
Together, we create more survivors.
I'm also happy to come visit you at home to collect a cash, check or credit card donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in person as well. Give me a call: 250-416-0373, to set up a convenient time for me to come by.
Thank you for your support.

Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:36AM Greetings from your local librarian. I have been on a bit of a spree buying many books and some dvds. Come on to the comfortable space in the hall and take a look. The bulletin board has a list of many of the new purchases. Leave a sticky if you want to have a book held for you.
STILL MISSING from the library collection:
Game of Thrones season 1 and 2
Downton Abbey season 5
Diva
I really do not want to have to rebuy these materials.
Happy reading.
Celine

Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:29AM Once again, TIMA hosted a wonderful, fun-filled evening of music and mayhem to celebrate Robert Burns, Scotland’s best-loved bard. From speeches to skits and the partaking of a “wee dram”, the night was filled with frivolity. A huge thank you to Elaine Vallis for her spirited Highland Dancing and to Peter Leckie for “Piping in the Haggis”. Once again Don and his kitchen crew outdid themselves with their “Bill O’ Fare” – you haven’t lived till you’ve tried the “Tipsy Laird Trifle”!
Donna Stadt led her talented musical group in some traditional Scottish tunes accompanied by Lynn Hunter on piano. During the event, the kilt policewoman (Gloria Taylor) arrived and surprisingly enough handed out a few tickets!
The Scottish Country Dancers wowed us with their intricate formations and the McSalish Gypsies treated us to a proud and colorful “Female Warrior” dance. In the words of Andy Keir, “Gypsy dancing at a Burns Night......definitely a first!” “We should go down in the Guinness Book of World Records.”
Cheers to Gerry Smith, Andy Keir, and Simone Luckham for making it all possible! A big thanks also to Helen Bird for her lovely decorations and to all who helped in one way or another.
