Thetis Island Phone Books For Sale

The Thetis Island Phone Books are not free.  They are a privately financed public service.  Producing them takes months of work, considerable expense and real dedication.  In recent years, this work has been headed and financed by Veronica Shelford.

Some phone books were recently accidentally distributed without charge.  These books were not free--taken without payment, these books are an extra expense against the future production of phone books.

Unfortunately some mistakes do slip through and these are publicly corrected as soon as possible. Corrections are listed in the Thetis Island Quarterly which, unlike the privately produced phone books, is published by TICA as a fundraiser for Forbes Hall and all of our Community Centre.

New ferry schedules from Tokey's Hoe and Rite Good Dump

Thetis Based Earth Moving Companies (Richard DeMarco and Steve Howard)  have produced a new ferry schedule as a courtesy for Thetis islanders.

It is made of durable card stock.  One per household has been sent out Thursday and Friday in the mail and extras can be picked up at the Thetis Ferry Bulletin Board, Mail pickup area and the Marina. Please feel free to take one for each car and for your fridge.

This schedule is more “user friendly” and easier to read for your convenience.  Hope these are helpful to you.

FAC ~ Interesting Article

Please find below a link to the Cortes Island Newspaper and an article by Ralph Nursall.  Ralph was an FAC member and a former Regional Director for Cortes Island.  He really tells it how it is.

We only ask for 4 hours of your time and will reward you with coffee and cookies.

If you like gardening instead of vacuuming Lesley and Randy Buhr have work for you!
No need to wear designer clothes as this is a get down and dirty job.
Remember that is Saturday May 3rd, 9am to 1pm.

Also needed is someone knowledgeable about the wall hanging to give it a bit of a tidy up.

Thank You to Thetis Islanders & First Responders

I wish to thank all the residents of Thetis Island who sent thoughts and prayers and well wishes to Richard after his recent accident.  It has now been six weeks into his healing and he is doing amazingly well. He broke 13+ ribs, punctured his lung, had a grade 3 concussion with a brain bleed damaged his adrenal gland, broke some small bones in the small of his back, and had top to bottom bruising after a fall off our roof.
The Community support and caring has been amazing and im sure that has helped in his recovery. He has a long way to go but is very motivated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  This is a caring community and a great place to live.
Special thanks to Karen Michie for driving me to the hospital, and Rick Gregerson for cleaning up all Richards tools, and to Leanne Cone for taking care of our animals. Thanks also to Steve LaVigne and his dad for cutting some firewood for us.
Extra thanks go out to Thetis Island First Responders.  Please consider volunteering to this worthwhile endeavour.
On another note.. PLEASE ALWAYS USE SAFETY EQUIPMENT.  Life is precious.
Thank you all.
Richard and Tess DeMarco
