Telephone Books

A number of us have noticed that TELUS, or whatever company, is delivering the phone books for TELUS, have, in their own, unique, inimitable  "wisdom"; simply dropped the books off at driveways, regardless of whether the properties are vacant, part-time, or full time residents. They probably even deliver to bird houses!

We have been picking up these books on and off for the last two weeks from driveways on Pilkey Point Road..  We realize TELUS does not know who, or what, is on each property.

In short, if you noticed any of these soaked, books laying around, it would be great help if you get them to our Recycle Yard. it doth make for a wee bit of a mess on our roads, say what?

We will be getting in touch with the company this week

Thank You for your assistance!

Steve Frankel

Goggles were dropped somewhere in between Kenwood road going south to camp Columbia on the left side of the road and when I went to look for them to see if I dropped them last night they were gone so if anyone picked them up please call Jacob Howard at 250-246-4420

Fire Permits ~ Effective April 1st

Fire Permits for hand-piled yard waste fires, approved incinerators, and campfires are required from April 1st until November 1st.

You may request a permit on-line after April 1st by going to thetisislandfire.ca and choosing the Fire Permit link on the left.  Because we do not have "operators standing by" at the computer for your request, please understand that it might take over 48 hours to process your on-line request so plan ahead accordingly.

Fire Permits are also available in person from Andy Lamb or Vicki Walker at our Solid Waste Recovery Site (the garbage dump) on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Andy and Vicki have graciously agreed to do this again under the direction of the TIVFD for your convenience.  Permits for April will be available at the site on this  Wednesday, March 30th.
March has been marvellously wet, so we will be issuing the permits for the entire month of April.  The drying trend is starting this week, so we will be reconsidering length of permits at the end of that month.
